Hi,

I was looking for some tickets for the Stones concert - to buy for a mate and I. I was only looking on ebay, until my DH put a wanted message on gumtree. (I know, I know crazy in retrospect. Then he got a few calls about tickets, so we went to meet someone to buy tickets.I won't say how much, but quite a lot. My friend and I turned up last night and found out the tix were fake. I have offered my friend the whole amount back. She has offered that I pay her half back or get tix to the next concert. It hurts to lose the whole amount - but it feels like the repsonsibility lies with us. What do you think I should do?

I didn't want to leave this unanswered but I also don't understand what the. Dilemma is...

Are you able to get tickets for the next one? I'd do both if I were you.

CogitOCrapNotMoreSprouts · 30/11/2012 18:16

Did your friend agree to the Gumtree cash-in-hand, no questions asked meet-up? Or did your DH/you decide that unilaterally? If it's the latter then reimburse her 100% for making an error of judgement. If she knew what you were doing and agreed to it then accept the 50/50 deal.

gordyslovesheep · 30/11/2012 18:18

there is no dilema - you paid for fake tickets ...

Tix? Confused

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 30/11/2012 18:26

It was your mistake, so you should be the one to lose the money I'm afraid. In your position is give my friend back her money, then try to get tickets legitimately for next time.

lill72 · 30/11/2012 18:26

I was looking on ebay initially which she knew, but we didnt discuss it from there. I am thinking maybe offer half the money with the promise to buy tickets to an upcoming concert. This would just appease the immediate hurt financially. Under better circumstances I would not question giving the whole amount back now.

I think you owe her the full amount she paid back, and no question.
It's unfortunate that you got ripped off, but you sourced the tickets and handed over the cash, so sadly the responsibility lies with you.

bondigidum · 30/11/2012 19:41

I would buy the new tickets. Its either give her all her money back or buy the new tickets in my eyes and rather buy the new tickets then at least you both get to see the concert.

maddening · 30/11/2012 19:49

But who paid for the tickets originally?

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 30/11/2012 19:53

You might not get new tickets, so you have to give her the money back now. Then if you do get tickets next time, she can pay you or them then.
