to turn down job

I applied for a job about 5 months ago and heard nothing until the beginning of October when I was invited for an interview. I was offered the job and accepted but have not heard anything for about 6 weeks. In these weeks I have had second thoughts. The job involves working every other weekend and also Christmas eve, boxing day and new year. I have small kids and school age kids and the more I think about it the more I don't want to do it. Am I being unreasonable if I email/call them to say I no longer want the job? oh and its turned out the moneys crap.

It might be a bit "off" but you shouldn't take a job you don't want out of a sense of behaving honourably. It's not worth it in the long run.

YANBU

Who cares? Taken so blooming long for them to sort this out I wouldn't feel at all guilty, wasted energy in this specific instance.

Good luck in further search.....

Thankyou

If the worst bit is Christmas Eve etc then I would just sit tight. It is looking more and more likely that they will miss Xmas this year anyway. (Especially if you do a bit of delaying yourself.)

Then I'd start the job and also start looking for other jobs. And make sure you have a new job by next Xmas.

If you have another job you can stay in or you are being supported by family, YANBU. If you are currently living off benefits, then YABVU.
