Worst/funniest teacher Christmas presents

A teacher friend of mine said that the worst present she ever received from a child in her class was a pair of tights. Another said that she once got a bottle of wine which had been opened and 1/3 of it drunk. I'm not starting this thread to have a dig because, believe me, with 2 DCs getting the teacher a present at the end of term can be a bit trying, but some stories I hear are hilarious.

Sorry, there might be a thread about worst presents in general, but some teachers' stories are just corkers.

My mum was a teacher and I remember a bottle of Hungarian wine which hung around the house for a few years, before she foobbed it off onto me for a teenage party .

Even 17 year olds wouldn't touch it.

If someone gave me Hungarian wine I'd assume it was nice.

Haven't got a worst present anecdote but I thought it was maybe the most OTT one when a friend's class all got bullied into giving asked for £5 so they could get £150 for a flying lesson for the teacher. That was a Christmas gift too not even an end of year thankyou - I've no idea what stops were pulled out for that one!

fyi everything else was very lovely and we still have a number of plants people gave my mum when she was a teacher.

Those are my best. I'm genuinely not ungrateful, just puzzled!

without a doubt, a child in eldest dds class gave the teacher a photo of themselves. why would a teacher want that as a christmas gift or, indeed at all?

I have had a few great presents. A very mucky bear and the child said they'd found it in someone's garden. It was covered in mud and I had no idea which house to return it to! We had strong words about how kind it was to think of me but we weren't allowed to take from anyone else.

I also got an ornament once of a bondage bear! Covered in leather and carrying a whip! Not quite sure what was going through the parents mind in letting her daughter bring this in! I have a strong suspicion it was taken from mothers bedroom but I couldn't bring myself to ask!

I got a box of tissues from a lovely boy - actually they came in handy!

I got a plant from another boy but he'd wrapped it up and I didn't open until Christmas (almost a week later). It was pretty much dead from a lack of sunlight and no water. It did end up living and ironically it lived longer than any other plant I've ever had.

I once got a lovely bottle of perfume, I was quite touched until the young man in question told me he'd shoplifted it specially for me. We had strong words about shoplifting and I had to speak to his head of year about it (I believe she then spoke to his mum)

I presented my Year 4 teacher with a wine soaked bag full of shards of broken glass at Christmas, does that count? I liked the sound it made when it clinked on the stone stairs

My DAunt and DCousin are teachers, I get a lot of lovely smellies that they can't use due to asthma and skin conditions, I love Xmas/summer holidays!

My worst and best present rolled into one, was a half chewed and soggy Mars bar from a year 3 boy I taught with quite pronounced special needs. He wanted me to eat it there and then...I (ahem) saved it for break time! He was a boy with a lot going on, in and out of school and when he started in my class it was fair to say he didn't like school, teachers etc, so the fact he wanted to give me something meant a lot. Not a big one for lying to children, usually think the truth is best...in this case I chose to fib and told him it was delicious, I was rewarded with the biggest smile and a hug, which from this child was rare.

My friend once got a full set of very saucy underwear. Delivered by Grade 2 Mother. Very awkward!

I got a broken mug from my form class with a note shoved in saying 'its the thought that counts'. The girls had bought a best teacher mug but dropped in on the floor on the way into school!
I've still got the note somewhere and yes the thought did count.

2 bags of frozen soup.

A little teapot shaped 'teabag stand' - a halfway house for teabags before you put them in the bin... why not just put them in the bin

I got a mini shampoo,from a hotel last year, very sweet and practical, just like the child who gave it to me!

HedgeHogGroup Because they are sometimes used a second or third time before being thrown away. One tea bag for just one mug of tea is just wasteful.

-a large stone duck (dead weight to carry home, too conspicuous to leave)

-many many half eaten chocolates, empty tins, half boxes or just half a family Galaxy

-(chalk?) ornaments where all the extremities had rubbed off already

-male presents, e.g. male toiletries or grooming sets

-a meditation and calming CD from the mother of a boy with HUGE behavioural needs I laughed

-a goldfish in a bag (still going after 6 years!)

but the only only I didn't feel grateful for:

SEXY KNICKERS!

Would be grateful for anything......
