that I'm having to listen to someone's loud, crap and tinny music blaring out of the earphones on the train, when I just want to chill and read my book Angry

Take their ipod or whatever and throw it out the window.

ClippedPhoenix · 28/11/2012 16:17

Start reciting your book at them.

cinnamonnut · 28/11/2012 16:17

or take it off them and sing really loudly to it Grin

CajaDeLaMemoria · 28/11/2012 16:20

Hmm...

Did you have the option of sitting further away from them? Is it a quiet thingy?

It sucks, but then again, that person might have had a real rubbish day and need music to unwind. I need music to stop me throwing up on public transport. It always amazes people how quickly it happens if I don't. If it dies, I vomit, and have a terrible nose bleed. Every time. No idea why.

That said I do listen to it as quietly as possible, with good quality headphones and my hair covering my ears. And I try to sit far away from people.

YANBU. People have it too loud. It's quite possible to listen to music without other people hearing it, and if you are on the deaf side, get super-duper-noise-cancelling headphones.

I now listen to music on the commute in order to drown out others' music. Even though I prefer to read without listening to music!

Keep scissors in your bag, snip the cord when they are looking out of the window.

cinnamonnut · 28/11/2012 17:37

They got off in the end after about 40 minutes and I was left with some peace.

I don't mind if people listen to music because they're stressed or whatever but it's so rude and inconsiderate to have it on that loudly.

I feel your pain, I'm currently trapped in a crowded train heading north with a highly irritating teenage couple sat opposite - there is no where to hide!
