to be uneasy about this

So dh was at home in charge of dc whilst I was working. dd2 had a party to go to. He was considering leaving dd1 (just turned 9) in house with baby whilst he dropped dd2 of. Would be gone 5 minutes. dd1 is very sensible but I would be uneasy about doing this.
Fortunately, no need as I got home on time.
AIBU to think this.

I would always worry if something happened when he popped out like a car accident or something

9 and in charge of a baby is too young. 9 on own is really too young but slightly more understandable. I personally wouldn't do it.

9yr old in charge of a baby?! Bit of a no brainer really isn't it!

5madthings · 24/11/2012 18:14

leaving the 9yr old on their own at home fine.

i wouldnt leave the 9yr old in charge if the baby, tho i have on occasion left my 13yr old in charge of thd baby for short time if i nip out to local shop.

Itsaboatjack · 24/11/2012 18:19

Maybe if the baby was asleep and not likely to wake up. But not if the baby was up and actually needed looking after.

IAmSoFuckingRock · 24/11/2012 18:26

why couldn't he just take them all with him?

not sure if anyone saw it but a four year old set himself on fire with a candle while his mum went to the shop last week in NI. little boy ran out of the house in flames! Sad why do people just not take their dsc with them?

TiggyD · 24/11/2012 18:30

Tell him he has to stay in and mend the bathroom.
