I waited and waited for the Brio trainset at 19.59.It took ages before the add to basket button came up and immediately,before I could click,it said 100% sold how can that be and AIBU to be p'd off at having missed it for a second time today? [sulks]

It happens because people have faster computers and connections than you do. Try the waitlist, that's how I got the Thomas thing.

whenever I have tried waitlist I cant work out how I will know if I have got it and then a box comes up saying it is too late :(
I have just given up and left the site.

I've got most things I put myself on the waitlist for. Once you're on the waitlist you just need to sit there watching, and a box pops up which you have I think a minute to click to add to basket, otherwise you lose your place on the waitlist.

Waitlist is usually worth doing, as loads of people go mad clicking immediately, then rethink and don't check out in the 15 minutes they get.

It's driving me nuts. Just been pressing the "add to basket" button, only to get "waitlist full". What is that all about??

Damn annoying. Although on the plus side, I have managed to get some good bargains this week

I couldn't even get on the waitlist - and not because it was full. I just kept getting a "checking deal status" message that just sat there.

I emailed to let amazon know about it and basically got a "sorry you missed out" message, followed by an explanation of how Black Friday works and what I should do to buy something.

Basically, what I was already trying to do.

I wouldn't have minded missing the deal, or missing the waitlist due to demand, but for the system to not actually check the status effectively and freeze up on me multiple times was NOT ON!

I have emailed back to complain about their useless and condescending reply. I am aware I will get nowhere, but don't like to be patronised in the process.

I learned years ago you have to be ninja fast with the Amazon lightening deals for black Friday. Fist year I tried I clicked and ended up on the wait list, a few times before finally adding Ds's lap top to my basket, then you only have 30 minutes to check out, I think thats where a lot of people lose the stuff, they don't check out in time and someone on the waitlist gets a chance at it.
Second year I managed to hit the button just right and got Dh his coveted TomTom. This year I was super fast and got my new lap top first try. followed by being stuck on the waitlist for a flash drive and some playmobil. But got it all in the end.
I was checking the UK site for stuff for my UK based family for Christmas, but the lightening deals are over? They go on and on, on the US site.

I did however notice that Friday morning the site was running a bit slow, probably overwhelmed with so many of us checking for deals and I got the checking deal status on one item, then ages later it finally popped up that it was 100% sold out, but I'd already given up and checked out by then.

This was DH's first question on Friday morning. Apparently it's the Friday after Thanksgiving, when people start their Christmas shopping.

Ah, is that how the waitlist thing works? I was on a list for a rather funky water filter jug, but did not know to keep checking. Bummer.

Did, however, manage to get a nice watch for DS's Christmas pressie and the Dexter boxset for myself .
