To refuse to answer my house phone until after 8pm

Although I am registered on the Telephone Preference Service, I still get a phone call every 20 mins or son at home from a taped machine telling me 'this is not a sales call' or that I have been miss sold something or that I need more life assurance etc.

Everytime the phone rings the Internet goes down for 10 mins!!!!!!!!!

I may be mistaken but I believe sales calls are not allowed after 8pm. So I don't answer my home phone till then. If it is urgent my family and friends have my mobile and I have now told them all that I refuse to answer the phone till after 8pm.

When will these pest and nuisance calls stop?! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Why don't you just change your number?

I had those recorded calls (4 a day) for months before I rant BT and asked them to change it.

That was about 6 months ago and I've not had a single one since.

I rarely answer the phone during the day. I have an answerphone, if someone wants me they can leave a message, agree nuisance calls have got ridiculous and being on the TPS is meaningless.

changing number might be worth it -ask BT to give you a number that has not been used for as long as possible (you won't get one that hasn't been used before, we've run out) Regrettably I think the scammers can ring any time they like.

you can get screening boxes, but they cost money - why should you? So no, YANBU - up to you if and when you answer your phone. Genuine callers can leave a message.

regarding the internet; have you got ADSL filters on all the phone points? I had this problem until I did this. Also found a baggy old corded phone was causing the problem too.

companies can make sales calls up to 9pm which personally I think is too late
