Ok, so I'm only a tiny bit miffed.

Sometimes I can click on people's names in posts and see their profiles, other times I can't - it just brings up the name in a little box below but it's not clickable.

It's irritating! Particularly when you are trying to find a thread with a potential to be pulled before it disappears into the ether.

Obviously this could be me doing something wrong - but I haven't changed anything at all on my poota, and it's happening on here and on my phone. If it is me then sorry lovely MNHQ Grin.

You just have a little box for me, what do I have?

Sagelynodding · 21/11/2012 23:29

YABU (in a nice way)

You aren't doing anything wrong!
Some people don't want to have a public (clickable) profile, it isn't compulsory :)

IAmSoFuckingRock · 21/11/2012 23:29

some people have made their profiles private so you cant view them that's all. Smile

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 21/11/2012 23:30

I thought it was because some people haven't included any profile details.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 21/11/2012 23:30

Eh? I thought you could choose whether your name was clickable or not?

IAmSoFuckingRock · 21/11/2012 23:30

and i dont get your comment about trying to finf a thread that could be deleted? how is clicking on their profile relevant?

MagiMingeWassailsAgain · 21/11/2012 23:32

OP, your name isn't clickable so you don't have a public profile either Confused

They are optional.

Advanced search is your friend. it's over there at the top >>>>>>>>>>>

BarbecuedBillygoats · 21/11/2012 23:36

People with profiles names are underlined

valpollicella · 21/11/2012 23:43

Why do you need to click on thier profile? MN isnt FB Smile

Unless someone says in a post ive added this pic to my profile have a look Im not sure why this miffs you even a little bit!

MardyBra · 21/11/2012 23:53

Don't forget the hoverererers.

AudrinaAdare · 22/11/2012 00:03

Advanced Search usually does the trick although it once took me sooooo long to find the, blowjob after giving birth thread that I have it saved in my watch list.

HQ Tech must have been pissing themselves looking at the increasingly perverse search terms I was entering and I was probably quite lucky I wasn't banned Grin

madwomanintheattic · 22/11/2012 00:05

Ah, yes, the hovererererer thing. How might one avail oneself of that particular doodad if one were to be so inclined?

Is it just the name of yer profile or something?

MardyBra · 22/11/2012 00:10

madwoman In Registration details in MyMumsnet. You need to fill in the User Status box and it comes up as a hoverer.

Don't forget to amend it when you namechange for sockpuppeting and trolling though. Wink

CoolaSchmoola · 22/11/2012 00:11

Valpolicella - because it lists their recent threads, so if you know they posted something and can't find it, it will be on their profile.

TBF I only discovered this the other day when another poster said they were clicking on a profile for something so I thought I have a nose look Grin

I just found it odd that it didn't work on everyone, however, now I know (and I also know that mine isn't public either lol).

Obviously had I been a prolific profile peeker I would not have needed to ask.

madwomanintheattic · 22/11/2012 00:16

If only, mardy... If you flounce and de-reg twice they only let you have your username back if you beg. And even then it takes months, and they extra - specially doctor it with deeply technical immovable status so you can never ever ever name change again. And if you do, you can't get back. Blush

It's like being trapped in an alter-ego. Which I think may have been one of my usernames whilst waiting for madwoman to be re-bestowed.

But, oo, cool. I wonder if they've doctored that, too? Grin

MardyBra · 22/11/2012 00:21

That'll learn you not to flounce madwoman. I flounced once. But I didn't dereg. I lasted a few days hours.

kickassangel · 22/11/2012 00:25

I spend whole evenings looking at people's profiles. I can never remember name changes so the profiles help, but mainly I just like being nosey

WrathdePan · 22/11/2012 00:31

it's important to read profiles for spreadsheet purposes.

WorraLiberty · 22/11/2012 00:33

I never think to look at profiles unless someone says they've put their pic on it and asks everyone to look at it.

AudrinaAdare · 22/11/2012 00:41

I wouldn't have any temporary girl-crushes if I didn't occasionally look at profile pics Shock

I still say that whomovedmychocolate is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen anywhere.

Sometimes you get bonus cuteness pics of newborns and which I actually prefer (sorry DH)

madwomanintheattic · 22/11/2012 02:57

Clearly it didn't learn me at all, as I did it again.

I can't even remember why. The second one was fb buttons. No idea at all about the first.

Bog standard addiction, I think. Grin
