Any tips for party? My other mum was going to do presents for a pass the parcel? We well mu husband ..ok - he has just finished the party bags.. A book, sweets, pencil and some bubbles -thank god for Asda. We are not going to decorate as we simply don't have the money and bro and friend are bringing a smoke machine, snow machine and a bubble machine.... I just need to get plates etc but honestly any tips? I have all the drinks bought, I managed to get a good offer on Capri suns in my local discount shop.. Desert? Does cake count? Pls any help?

Jugs of juice and plastic cups would have been cheaper (and might be an idea to have some spare anyway)

Buy a cheap cake or cheap cupcakes and put the cake in the party bags beforehand, it costs a little more but its worth it in terms of the stress.

Pass the parcel - bags of Haribo or lollies that you can hand out when a wrapper gets taken off and put a colouring book and a cheap pack of crayons for a prize.

If you want to have a pudding then get some biscuits, they should be cheap enough or do angel delight or jelly in plastic cups.

Keep the food simple.... No naice ham n sausage tolls

Kids of that age are happy with biscuits crisps and cake..... It's easy to do and not too bad to clear up after.... Don't bother with sandwiches etc..... Or if you do keep them simple - jam, cheese etc ... Very few kids will eat them at parties....

If you're doing pass the parcel, wrap up something nice for the final layer, then layers of newspaper with some sweets as a consolation in each layer.... And enough layers for each child to have a "turn"....

Cake as dessert is fine....

Chocolate fingers, etc for pudding.

I've never bothered with a second cake. Just take the one, do the candles bit and then quickly cutoff some slices and wrap in paper napkins and put in party bags.

Remember a knife for the cake if you do this.

My tip for 4yo's, dont plan too much. With a bouncy castle in the mix, there's bound to be more chaos than games going on!

We always play pass the smarties instead of pass the parcel. If the music stops you get to eat one. Also good with the big tubes of fin sized sweets. Much cheaper and no faff.

Bubbles etc sounds perfect, my DS just turned 4 and he just loved running around with his friends.

Get the kids to stand in a circle, take the lid of a tin of Roses/Heroes etc, throw it in the air!

I hear shared parties are often a hit welcome clumsy :)

My DB's advice was to take two sliced white loaves, butter them, then throw them in the bin. Cut out the middle man. :o

Have music and things with you to play some musical statue/ dance competition type games but dont plan too much. With a bouncy castle and entertainment the time will fly by.

Don't forget to leave a bottle of wine at home in the fridge for when it's all over!

You should always do far less food than you think you will need. It never gets eaten.

Sainsbury's basics do lovely midget gems, choccy buttons and the like for 30p a bag. Also jaffa cakes which my husband assures me, tastes exactly like the real deal.

Cack like that followed by birthday cake should be fine.

Good luck with the party! Keep food simple, sausages, crisps,.biscuits. A lolly in every layer of the pass the parcel. Musical bumps is good for little ones.

Lots of sweets. Birthday cake. Get a room full of 4 years olds hyped up on sugar. Make them run about for hours screaming and laughing.

I second music for musical statues. Buy a bag of plastic medals for prizes.

We could go halfies if you like clumsy, I'll bring the food and you provide the entertainment, hope you've put my Dd's name on the invitations. ;).

And I agree about jugs of diluted Squash, sugar free if poss.

They will want more than one drink each as they will get hot and thirsty on the bouncy castle.
