my dd1 is 3 and a half, she has no problems with speech, nursery are happy and nobody has struggled to understand

she tried to talk to someone that came to pick something up from the house and the woman didnt let her say anything and just cut her off with "sorry, i dont speak baby"

dd was a bit surprised and i thought was rude aibu?

YANBU. I think that was rude too.

It was a bit rude I suppose (although would depend on how it was said), but not all children are as understandable to strangers as they are to their parents.

It does sound rude. my response would be 'oh its ok, she hasn't learnt to speak 'rude twat adult' yet' and smiled alot. Grin

I'd have pushed her out of the door - she would have been leaving without whatever she had come to collect.
