To ask, in the light of this post why would anyone vote Tory?

Erm, no it's not. There is an article by UEA clearly detailing how the poor and disabled are in fact suffering more than any other group. Worth looking at.

In the light of the Iraq war and the many other disasters of Labour governments, why would anybody vote Labour?

I never have and never will vote Tory but as someone commented to her blog, I'm not convinced that Liberals or Labour would reverse these measures. I also feel that whilst her blog works for people that already agree, it doesn't work to persuade people to agree. There is no mention of which laws, acts etc. have been introduced to make these things happen. It's all very well to rant in a blog, but if you want to really make people think and perhaps change their vote, then you have back up your rants with verifiable facts. She doesn't do this really so I don't imagine it will sway any Tories.

Sue has done some amazing work and has fought hard to be heard not just by the BBC but the politicians too despite being very ill herself, she was still tweeting and blogging from her hospital bed fighting and highlighting the problems that are being caused by not just the cuts, the overhaul of the benefits system but the company ATOS as well.

If anyone deserves some respect and to be listened to it's her.

Even if some of her points are correct, she's made it very sensationalist, and, like some people have already said, isn't going to convert anyone.

How can you ask that question and not know the answer being a mumsnetter?

People vote for the Tories because they agree with the changes they've brought in. If it doesn't affect them and makes no difference to their lives why should they care?

Private investment and takeovers of hospitals: labour

Housing bubble and eradicating value of pensions: everyone

Workfare = new deal.

Increased inequality: everyone because the politicians benefit

I don't like what the Tories are doing, but mostly they're expanding what labour started.

I read the blog this morning. Don't recall anything at all sensationalist in it at all. Bloody frightening is what it was. What is it you disagree with, degutastic and Rollmops?

There has been a definite shift in how ATOS operate, i regularly see people who within a couple of weeks of over turning a decision by ATOS / DWP at tribunal are then found fit for work following another work capability assessment, only to have to appeal again, I believe it's done in the hope people wont appeal because truth is many don't.

And when those found fit for work apply for JSA, the merest mention of any disability and they wont accept the application, leaving them in the position of having to lie to get JSA.

All without any change in the law

I wouldn't vote Tory, but neither could I give a flying fuck about the drivel some lefty fuckwit choses to post on a worthless blog.

Therefore YABU to ask why anyone would vote Tory 'in the light' of it.

If you think that Labour, with their track record of unholy fuck-ups, would be doing better I'm afraid you need your bumps felt.

AND when people are found to have limited capability for work and are placed into the work related activity group, they don't get any help / support from Ingeus or A4e, all that happens is they are told to apply for shit loads of jobs just as if they were on, you guessed it, JSA

May be worth asking the same question again next summer after many of the changes made by the Tories have actually gone through and start to bite.

First they came for our childs Educational Maintainence Allowance, but thats OK as we earned too much to qualify......
Then they came for our DLA, but thats OK as we are fit and well......
Then they came for our housing benefits, but thats OK as I own my own home.....
Then they came for our Child Benefit, but thats OK as we have a joint account......
Then they came for our JSA, but thats OK as I can find another job within the year....
Then they came for our legal aid.... etc
