In what world would pooh sticks ever be unreasonable?

EduCated · 18/11/2012 19:56

Ha. Did they even actually move?

cumfy · 18/11/2012 20:02

No they were verrr static.

Grin

Took us a looooong time to explain the concept of canals not having a current to my DSis.

She was in her 20s at the time Grin

mrskeithrichards · 18/11/2012 20:05

Do canals not move?

cumfy · 18/11/2012 20:16

I'm not sure water courses are a favoured topic round here.
Last year someone explaining local geography to friend on a hill top:

And doon there, there's the river. The River Forth.
^^ Hmm

It is technically a river though!

cumfy · 18/11/2012 20:19

I often play it alone in the woods on dog walks. Wish I still had a small child as a beard companion.

OHforDUCKScake · 18/11/2012 20:21

My houss is next to an estuary, we love pooh sticks.

cumfy · 18/11/2012 20:23

I think the River Forth turns into the Firth of Forth around Kincardine.

This was definitely the Firth of Forth.

It's very unreasonable in Daily Mail Land.

(You need to scroll down through the story a bit to find the part about Poohsticks.)

EduCated · 18/11/2012 21:59

No, canals are, in the main, static. They're man-made so there's no natural water course. They're basically just a water filled ditch.

MammaTJ · 18/11/2012 23:28

We have a lovely walk through parsk to get from my house to town. It has three bridges over the stream. We always play Pooh Sticks.

Having said that, our local council is the one in the news for being in danger of going bankrupt. Better stop it, because they may start issuing random fines. Hmm

BarbecuedBillygoats · 18/11/2012 23:36

You need someone to open a lock further up

ZebraOwl · 19/11/2012 02:55

Well, not so much U as a bit cruel unless you put little motors on the sticks to help them move...
