Am I in menopause

Regular periods until now on again after 2 bleeding friggin weeks. Always regular. Although last 4 months nasty heavy one's.

Waking up looking like I have been in a fight with the devil.

Somewhere in my early 40's I forget where exactly

It's fucking shit, isn't it? I've only just got through having babies and only stopped breastfeeding 3 years ago. Now I'm sprouting bristles on my chin and bleeding like a stuck pig every 2 and a half weeks.

Oh, and I am crying like a goddam baby. At everything a little bit sad. I'm also snapping at everyone who looks at me sideways, unable to settle down to anything, and am a total bugger to live with.

YAsooooNBU to feel awful if you're in early menopause. Been there and it's not a whole lot of fun. Have you spoken to your GP? They can help confirm.

I've been on HRT since 31. It's good. Do it! But don't even think about nylon tights- the slightest hint off a hot flush and you'll spontaneously combust!

What are the signs then, of the start of menopause? I've heard of hot flushes but apart from that.

I've been wondering.

Morris- either shortening or lengthening of cycles, hot flushes, night sweats, heart palpitations, memory loss, exhaustion, extreme mood swings, vaginal dryness, weight gain, achy, dragging limbs, whiskers on chin, low mood, itchy skin. . .

If you're a VERY lucky girl, like me, then you get to experience them all!

Trolleys are great
I wish I'd bought mine YEARS ago whn I first ventured out without the pram to put things under.
this is the major advantage of getting older - you can do things like use a shopping trolley without any shame

Oh, sorry, forgot to say, I went into BM a few weeks ago, (hoping to find something MiLish for Christmas), and there really wasn't anything that you'd want to buy.

But shopping trolleys are FAB

Oh no, I had not considered the idea of needing Bon Marche. Got all excited when it opened up near me, perhaps mistaking it for a lovely shop I'd been to in France, went in for a look and was as confused as when I discovered Farm Foods wasn't a farmers market! I did go back once to look for some big pants to keep bum warm on bike but theirs were just too big, what I had in mind was more of a one at a time pair.

Off to check for bristles.

I'm early 40's and things have been going funny off and on for about 4 years now but docs just told me I'm too young.

The bit when they call you up for a smear test and ask you to come mid cycle and expect you to know when the hell that is, is one to look forward to...

Latest research is that HRT is really good for you, if you start it early. The studies that reported cancer risks were done on fat smoking americans who hadn't started it until they were 10 years into menopause. Now they are saying you should start it at peri-menopause and keep on it for as long as you want.

hmmm...Okay...I'm a reformed smoker (gave up nearly ten years ago, but did it like it was going out of fashion for 20 years before that!), very young (to be thinking of HRT ) and fat. I'm not American, so at least that's in my favour!

I think I'll start looking into HRT, get some of my youth back and kick these temporary wrinkles into touch.

My mum started HRT at 45 and still takes it sometimes and she is 75 next year!! Thinks its bloody marvellous I shut my ears when she harps on about her vaginal dryness

I don't think I am peri-menopausal yet, but I am still taking the Pill. It's a low-estrogen one that my doc recommends until you're about 50, assuming you don't smoke, have high blood pressure or are very overweight. It is deffo keeping the periods light and regular and maybe helps with all the other 'getting old' symptoms? I dunno but I am pretty scared of all that happening (am 44 soon...aaargh )

I'm in my twenties. I have a shopping trolley and have just ordered a fold up shopping bag on wheels, so if I nip out to the shops after work I can get my shopping home easily.

My shopping trolly is navy with white dots and I LOVE it but I can't take it to work with me as there's nowhere to store it (it doesn't fold). The shopping bag I've just ordered is leopard print. I regularly get stopped when I use my trolley by people begging to know where I got it from and not one of them has been of pensionable age.

I walk past Bon Marche and think 'Oooh, that top looks nice'. I plan on having a good mooch through their clothes one day this week.

I'm peri-menopausal thanks to the effects of chemo/tamoxifen but that has NUTHIN to do wiv me likin' trolleys and funky poppy print tunic tops in Bon Marche, ok? Ahem.
