To be annoyed Amazon Family automatically signed me up to pay when I joined?

I am terrible at reading small print and I realise it was a free trial, of what I thought were going to be bargains. To be honest I haven't found any massive reductions. I checked the account settings and they had a box highlighted to say I would be charged £49 per month for being a member of Family! To be started in January, when I will of course be broke after Christmas. Great.

I strongly advise anyone signed up to check if they want this as I am certainly not prepared to just give them that much a month!

it's £49 per year, not per month, and it's easy to cancel.

If you know you are terrible at reading small print then you should know to be more careful.

I have Prime myself, which is well worth it IMO. But I couldn't fathom £49 a month!

The £49 per year is really for Amazon prime, rather than a family subscription - which, as far as I can tell, is free, but you have to be a member of amazon prime.

YA a bit U. I joined as well and it was pretty clear that they'd automatically take the subscription after the free period. I guess they hope you'll forget, but I've set up an alert to remind me because no way is it worth £49 (I think that's per year, but still).

At least they let you cancel online and don't make you phone a call centre so someone can try and talk you into staying (I'm talking about you Which )

Yeah they caught me out to, it was MN that sent me to get the "free" 3 months which Iv'e been charged for. I thought well since Iv'e paid I might as well get my year out of it.

You always have to sign up to pay when you do free trials. Which, Experian, LoveFilm....but you just cancel straight away. Sign up one day, cancel the next as the cancellation takes place at the time your next payment is due so you still get the access for the full length of the trial safely knowing that you have already cancelled and won't get stung.

Which I cancelled using e-mail no problem, Experian have a free phoneline for cancellation.

Yes, sorry, per year. I had a niggle that I needed to cancel it which is why I double checked when I couldn't see any benefit from being part of it.

As Indith says, you nearly always sign up to pay when you do free trials of things, and if you don't like it you have to cancel.

You can cancel it.

especially if you haven't ordered anything over the free trial period.

When I signed up I thought it was for 3 free months, after the 3 months they would take the £49. They took the £49 straight away though.

Yes I'm going to cancel mine now, esp since I haven't ordered anything I should get my money back!
