AIBU to have laughed my socks of at the irony of her missing the point of freedom of speech?

Yes, it's a Daily Fail link.

I think she had a large point. It's not "women hating" to be exasperated with life's free-loading cupcake brigade.

TheBigJessie · 11/11/2012 09:30

YouOldSlag Oh, you silly lady Liz! If society does not support child-rearing, where will the vets come from?

BIWI · 11/11/2012 09:33

'free-loading' Hmm Really?! WTF do you mean by that?

RudolphUcker · 11/11/2012 09:34

You don't seem to like SAHMs or Mners very much, Downthe.

QuickLookBusy · 11/11/2012 09:39

Are you Liz Downthe?

TheBigJessie · 11/11/2012 09:40

Who are "the freeloading-cupcake brigade"? WHSmith's team of designers? You know, the ones who designed all that cupcake-themed stationery?

but they're not freeloaders. They're paid to design stuff i don't like, which isn't the same thing...

I'm confused...

Thisisaeuphemism · 11/11/2012 09:42

She is not just woman-hating- tim doweling got it in the neck too.
She is a misanthrope? Lizanthrope?

YouOldSlag · 11/11/2012 09:46

TheBigJessie- good point! Smile

Arthurfowlersallotment · 11/11/2012 10:18

I feel sorry for her. She's got unaddressed mental health problems.
She has turned her obvious desire for a child into a defensive spite towards anyone with children.

She is a good writer and an excellent self publicist, if entirely unlikable.

Thisisaeuphemism · 11/11/2012 10:21

I too feel kind of sorry for her - unfortunately her bile appeals to an audience.
She is in massive contrast to Caitlin Moran who said she realised when she was about 17 that she didnt want to just do nasty for the sake of nasty writing anymore (poor paraphrase but)

applefalls · 11/11/2012 10:27

'Cupcake' is lazy journalistic shorthand for anything domestic and homely and I frankly thought LJ, who is well known for her forthright views on insulting cliche, was above that sort of passé cheap shot.

Even when I was Really Fucking Important working and childless, I never felt the need to belittle mothers.

Still, she's given me a hearty laugh this morning with her moronic freeloading drivel.

JakeBullet · 11/11/2012 11:53

...and there was I thinking she was just a smart cookie be g a bit of a parody. She really is an overpaid idiot then?

Lara2 · 11/11/2012 14:04

She complains she has no money, lives in a hell hole - that house and kitchen!!!! Wish I had 'no money' and could live like that.

No sympathy for her at all !

difficultpickle · 11/11/2012 15:41

That article is classic Liz - she feels threatened by others that write a lot better than she does. She must always be looking over her shoulder for whomever is going to step up and steal her lines - eg Samantha Brick.

Liz daren't write anything positive as she knows she will be out of a job.

YouOldSlag · 11/11/2012 17:30

True bisjo, she is a professional troll. She is paid to make people so angry that they end up commenting and clicking on the article and bingo! Mailonline is the most clicked on newsite in the world.

She is paid to goad for a living but I don't think she gets the irony. I think she genuinely believes all the bollocks she spews forth.

CookingFunt · 11/11/2012 17:40

There is nothing likeable about her. She spews her venom over women who she envies and likes to think that by putting them down, she is therefore right and important. Her self absorbtion is sickening. No one of worth cares about her meanderings.

Arthurfowlersallotment · 11/11/2012 17:42

I know she's on here, so I will direct this at her:

Liz, not all mothers have the 'porridge stomachs' you keep referring to, and even if they do, it's not a valid criticism. You may be thin due to your disordered eating, but that's your business.

And I'm on a year's maternity leave, and I bloody love it and plan to do the same for the next one. So up yours.

Oh and the rock star is an imaginary boyfriend.

schoolgovernor · 11/11/2012 17:48

Her "diary" should be treated as a work of fiction. She tailors what she says in order to get maximum reaction and publicity.

Reading of her treatment of Nicola - Liz - I hope you read this because you should be ashamed of yourself. It was Nicola who rescued your collie wasn't it? You took her story and put it in your diary pretending it was you. She was the one who found him abandoned and neglected - not you. Nicola is the knowledgeable one who has kept your horses healthy. Nicola is the one who did most of the work.
I would love to read Nicola's diary, I hope she's kept one! Grin

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo · 11/11/2012 17:51

Is that mad cat woman still prattling on? The RAGING inaccuracies are enough to give anyone the hump. Yes maternity leave is a total jolly, as is the whole of parenting, its the worlds worst kept secret....Not like you'll ever know is it liz?!

Feel free to quote me directly in one of your laborious and frankly boring attempts at writing engaging pieces but dont paraphrase will you? After all im a shining example of the mythology you seek to perpetuate, you sad barren mean spirited cow.

YouOldSlag · 11/11/2012 17:51

When she insults mothers she forgets that she insults the one who produced and raised her.

CookingFunt · 11/11/2012 17:55

She was raised by a nest of rats by the way she goes on Slag

YouOldSlag · 11/11/2012 18:01

LOL at Cooking. She was created by child hating misogynists in a lab.

YouOldSlag · 11/11/2012 18:02

Another reason I can't stand her is that she writes such incredibly offensive bolleaux and then plays the "Little Old Me" victim card if people respond or are annoyed with her about it.

IfNotNowThenWhen · 11/11/2012 18:04

Hmmm. I think some of her comments were really stupid, e/g the "years holiday" one, but...I dunno.
If I had a blog, I thing that my domestic life would be the very last thing I would blog about.
It is tedious. Fair play to the mummy bloggers who make a living doing it-God knows I have done some shit to make a living, but as a chosen career?
I do feel like it used to be that people had children, and then either went back to work, or didn't for a few years, and that was the least interesting thing about them. If you make your whole raision d'etre your domestic life, including what you choose to communicate and broadcast via the web, then you are kind of narrowing your focus to a ridiculous degree.
Dont get me wrong-I don't want to read about LJ's life either, but I think she has a point about mummy bloggers.

CookingFunt · 11/11/2012 18:05

Yeah on the back of a lab rat.

Shes an awful cunt.
