I know this is in the wrong place but getting no anawer in health..

DD has had a high temp since Monday night. Iv been controlling it with calpol and took her to the doctors tonight to get checked out. She has a cough, cold and swolen glands.

Iv just given her a dose of calpol and her temp is 39.2, she had calpol about 4 hours ago and it didn't seem to help much, iv stripped her clothes off to keep her cool, plenty of water and she's in a cool but not cold room.

Her heart seems to be really racing and I'm just abit concerned as the temp is so high. Would you take her to A&E with high temp, raised heart rate and she seeks to he breathing a little fast?

I would - if she has been ill since Monday and no improvement, why take the risk? That's just a personal view - I have to stress that I'm not a health professional.

featherbag · 08/11/2012 22:19

Yes, take her to A&E, hope she feels better soon!

AntsMarching · 08/11/2012 22:19

Yes, straight to A&E. if you called NHS Direct they'd tell you to go in.

MamaMumra · 08/11/2012 22:21

Take her. Is her breathing a worry to you? Any difficulty breathing should be 999, not to be alarmist.

maddening · 08/11/2012 22:21

I would call out of hours Dr - they will give you an appointment time and be situated usually at a&e - saves you sitting round in a&e with a poorly dd.

ditsydoll · 08/11/2012 22:23

She's not struggling to breathe it just seems a little quicker and shorter than usual. Going to take her to A&E now thanks

kinkyfuckery · 08/11/2012 22:36

Yep, A&E/Out Of Hours.

Let us know how you get on.

ditsydoll · 09/11/2012 01:32

Just got back from out of hours they said she's just got a nasty viral infection and gave her ibuprofen to take to help bring temp down, fingers crossed it will help. Thanks for your help.

Poor little thing.

McChristmasPants2012 · 09/11/2012 01:43

Hope your DD gets well soon

NervousAt20 · 09/11/2012 01:48

I would go straight to A&E too, hope she feels better soon

ThatVikRinA22 · 09/11/2012 02:09

hope she gets well soon - you can use calpol and ibuprofen together for a double whammy to get a temp down. its safe to use both.

Walkacrossthesand · 09/11/2012 02:12

Ibuprofen is wonderful stuff for bringing temperature down & can turn a hot, listless child into a bushy-tailed livewire in 20 minutes flat! Keep some in the house, all those with young DCs...

doorbellringer · 09/11/2012 02:52

my goodness questions like this reinforce how flaming useless i'd be if my one year old were ill, and how much I would have to rely on you ladies! hope your
little one is better soon x
