My dh is doing it too. At the moment he looks like a cross between Seth Armstrong and Lemme from Motörhead.

DH is very jealous of all these men who can grow a tash. Aged 32 all he can grow is a slight splattering of bum fluff.

It's funny how DH is describing his efforts as more of a 'Tom Selleck'. Like this is a good thing!

Mine has a 'mo (and beard) all the time so can't do Movember. I love it, his face doesn't look right without it!

Mine is doing it - he's going for the David Niven, has got a 1930s haircut to match and started wearing suits.

Mine is doing it and its at the very scratchy stage. Looks horrid. Glad it's only for a month! He stopped shaving it on 1 nov.

Mine looks like Mexican bandit too. Am giving him nit comb to comb ( or can you buy Special tache combs?) it once it is long, just in case he goes all mr twit and has half his dinner in there.

I really don't like Movember. And I'm a bloke. Last year I had a couple of blokes ask me to sponsor them growing a moustache. Sorry, but wtf? Run a marathon, abseil down a very tall building, go on a 16-mile walk. Do something that actually entails some actual effort and I will part with my money with glee.

At the back of my head, I just think there are better ways to raise awareness and money. When you think of all the various female charities that do moonlight walks, runs for life etc, the best we men can do is GROW A MOUSTACHE?!?!!?!?

Having thus let off steam, I will now go and donate money to the cause.

DH always grows a Ned Flanders type. It's his birthday on the 29th too so I have to kiss him!

VoiceofUnreason What an odd thing to take issue with, it's something that brings serious issues to attention in a humourous way and raises some money along the way, what's the problem with that? Not everything done for charity has to be some sort of obscure challenge. It's no surprise that race for life which is the biggest of all events is hardly challenging unless you happen to be incredibly unfit. Rather its inclusive so more people can take part and it's reaches a much wider audience. I don't mean this at all to denigrate race for life - it's a wonderful, wonderful idea, i'm just pointing out that it happens to probably be the biggest event because its easier to take part in.

Actually i'd take a far bigger issue with things like abseiling where the money for the event rarely tends to be paid for by the person doing the event and as such any money you give tends to be subsidising it.

The moustache is a male symbol, women don't have them (Newcastle excepted).

WM - Another reason to dislike it is if you live near the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire like I do. It's hard enough to tell the women apart from the men at the best of times without confusing the issue by men making themselves look more like the women. Or the sheep, to be frank.

DS (16) is doing it and has rather spivvy little number going.

DH is trying but has a very odd pale /ginger tending swards full lip coverage thing that he hates, I don't think It'll last!

Sidesho - there was an element of humour in there, but never mind. and don't get me started on those ridiculous mountain climbing trips where you have to raise a minimum of £1500 because, absolutely, a great proportion of the money 'we' donate is going on costs. Agree with you - like subsidising a nice jolly for someone to me.

Although the number of people I meet who have no idea what Movember is and why some men suddenly grow moustaches is surprisingly large, so I'm not convinced it actually raises awareness as much as all that.

Movember is growing in popularity year on year particularly in the UK. There are now no end of 'quirky' fundraising events that help to raise awareness of womens health issues but far less so for men - this is something different surely and much more fun than climbing up a bloody mountain (yawn)

The last time I saw anything that tried to raise awareness of testicular cancer in a fun way for example was with the 'Bits and Bobs/Bob's Bits' campaign and that was over 20 years ago.

On Facebook I have spotted only 3 men that I know doing (lasy year I spotted only 1) it (my DH is one of them) but they are attracting lots of attention and comments. More so than a mention of a half marathon for example.

DH is doing it and I'm very proud of him. I asked him about it last year but he felt too self-conscious (having never attempted to grow facial hair at all). He says he's going for the Lemmy (Motorhead) look, but personally I think he looks a bit more Mexican just now. Tempted to dig out my sombrero for him....

I seem to know loads of guys who are getting into it this year. It's awesome seeing them out and about with half-grown 'taches!

Oh lordy. it is our anniversary and we are going out for a lovely romantic evening on Saturday (first time out in London since DS born 2 years ago) and DS has got a bloody MO-STACHE!!! Looks like a villain in a Middle Eastern tele-drama. GUTTED. AND he hasn't even set up his justgiving page yet - it's only to fit in with the boys in the office sigh

Dp looks like this full time and is in the middle of launching a business catering to hairy faced men.

DP and BIL are doing it. BIL can pull it off, he looks really good with one. DP I just can't take seriously. He looks like a vintage porn star and it's so very much not sexy.

It's going to be a loooong November in this household!
