I want a nice purple going out top/tunic for an exactly average sized 12 y DD.

AIBU to think that their should be a middle way between -
this

and this

Which is just a dead predictable and impossible to wash, sheads everywhere sequin T shirt

Have you seem the purple metallic owl top in new look or the Purple Heart one? My 12yr old DD has the owl - looks great on her. Also H & M have a cool pre teen range at the moment'.

BTW YANBU buying clothes for a 11 yr old girl is purgatory!!

nuckingfackered · 30/10/2012 16:14

Bloody I phone should say seen & 12 yr old!

Ithinkitsjustme · 30/10/2012 16:16

I hate buying for my "just"13 year old, she's too big for kids clothes and most adult clothes are completely unsuitable, either too frumpy or too skimpy.

Zukie if OP's 12yr old is anything like mine the 1st top will be considered far too babyish and not at all cool and they would probably think that the only reason it had been bought for them was because we are trying to ruin their life Grin

Try again

Or too similar to the first one?

Maybe this will work!

nuckingfackered [hgrin] Got it in one! apart from the £35 price tag, she wouldn't be caught dead in anything that hippyish. DD1 might, but I think that top is a bit bright even for her.

I think she might like the newlook owl, she would like the leopard heart - I don't.

But the fact that we've both found the same tops as the only just about acceptable ones in the whole of web land shows just how awful the choice is.

I like that Monsoon top, but DD would just laugh and tell me she already has an Indian dressing up outfit.

All I want is a simple purple party top or short dress with a bit of sparkle and a bit of style

she'd love this

My DD (10) would also love the last link, but she would only maybe get it if it was a tenth of the price. Please tell me you are not seriously considering that?

StarsGhostTail · 30/10/2012 21:28

No way, [hgrin] ~£20 max she's got half an Xbox for Christmas already and a request in for purple converse for her birthday.

How about this one? Not amazing I know. Good price though!

Jellybelly12 · 30/10/2012 22:32

Sounds like a hard time, I still have those years to come. That top will more than likely be in a sake in a few weeks though.

Jellybelly12 · 30/10/2012 22:36

Or in a sale perhaps.

pourmeanotherglass · 30/10/2012 23:54

I love the monsoon one - £30 for a girls top is a bit much though, mine would probably get paint or something on it the first time they wore it.
