AIBU to get really wound up by people writing "I don't no" online. Is it accepted text language or does it just mean the author cannot spell the word know?
Also when people write "I am not aloud" is that also text speak or just someone being thick?

I think the most common mistake is probably 'loose' and 'lose'.

I typed the other day, "My waistband is getting loose"...and it looked so odd that I nearly changed it to 'lose' because I'm so used to seeing the spelling error.

I cannot deciefer most txt speak, takes bloody ages for my brain to work it out.

I do that a lot - I mean, look at a word and wonder because I'm not used to seeing it written down correctly... Thank fuck for dictionaries, eh!

Or someone being dyslexic. Dh has to write things as he says them and gets laughed at and called thick by idiots with a superior attitude.

Honestly everyone does the odd typo, but some posts look like they have been written by Stevie Wonder with boxing gloves on.

I have a relative (by marriage) who writes in text speak. In a Scottish accent. It makes my eyes hurt.

My DH is very literate and yet he just can't get his head around when to use 'to' and 'too'.

He's ok with 'two' though so that's something at least [hgrin]

Socail is, I think an exception. Entirely a typo.

Work PC autcorrects teh for the, relaese for release and similar not looking at the keys mistypes.

Work for me, misuse to/two/too and there/their/they're and you'll be on reminders, controlled mailings, disciplinary and then working elsewhere.

Don't mind ETLAs or IRCisms like IMHO, ROTLFMAO, but wat us say? drives me crackers...
