To expect parcels for christmas in boring brown boxes

not to then have the name of the toy inside in bold black lettering across the side.Just had some presents delivered from littlewoods and thought brill their in a brown box then noticed white sticker with whole title of toy across the side. Luckily hot footed it upstairs but all 3 dc were in so if they had gone to the door i would of had no chance. Pfft im aware this is light hearted but im really struggling to pull this christmas off and id of been gutted if suprise had been ruined.

I agree! I ordered a big rescue station thing from
Amazon which is from father Christmas and I expected it would be in the usual amazon box but oh no it wasn't even in another box it was just the toy box with pictures of it on and everything - luckily ds1 is only 3.5 and only caught of a glimpse of it and it's long enough to Christmas that I don't think he'll remember but I was very annoyed.

thats what i assumed cause amazon stuff comes in standard brown boxes ect. Thats awful! im sure he wont remember. DS is 5 though and the older dcs are not very tactful when it comes to secrets so id of had no chance if one of them suddenly said hey that says.....

Just lucky we have a lovely Hermes lady who left an amazon parcel in her car recently while she knocked & checked if DC were around.

gift wrapping not an option through littlewoods although good idea for the amazon stuff. Aw that is lovely just a simple thing but v thoughtful

Oh yes I have to catch the post and run and hide all the boxes at this time of year. I'm waiting on one from Disney right now, last year their boxes came with Tinkerbell dancing across the box spreading stars. So Dd immediately knew she had a Disney toy she's been asking about.

Littlewoods don't box things if they are boxed from the manufacturer...

We found that out last year. PIL's present was delayed so we bought them some kitchen things they really wanted. Expensive kitchen things. Phoned Littlewoods who promised they'd be delivered in plain boxes - but they came in their own boxes, bright red, with big images of the items on. PIL answered the door and took them in.

We tried not to let on, but they were visibly upset on Christmas day that the surprise had been ruined, and didn't even open the box.

We'd made a hamper for the GPs, which I think MIL thought was for her, so I don't think that helped. Sigh.

ah best keep a look out at the door then! i understand the need to advertise but a little discrete packaging could make all the difference. Ive got hardly any storage in the house and its alot harder to disguise bright coloured boxes ect

thats awful especially considering they had promised they would be packaged. I have always received stuff in the bright littlewoods bags but not today, when all 3 dc were sat on the sofa noseying at the door. doh!
