Because I hate there dark mornings!

I tried to snuggle my baby back to sleep this morning, it was so dark I thought it was about 5am. It was 7.30!

I always get confused about what happens. So clocks going back will mean lighter mornings. I like that. My oldies I look after will want to get up again!! That will make my life easier. I am not allowed to drag reluctant people out of bed, but the day staff expect hope I will get three up and dressed. I am torn between what my oldies want and what my lovely colleagues want.

MrsKeithRichards · 26/10/2012 09:59

Go with what the oldies want!

Hmmm DS currently waking at 6am, so that will be 5am..

No I'm not looking forward to it!

ProbationProbationProbation · 26/10/2012 10:11

Yes. The 5am feed on DD's agenda will most likely become 4am. Dread does not cover it.

KenLeeeeeee · 26/10/2012 10:12

I love the dark evenings so I'm looking forward to it too.

valiumredhead · 26/10/2012 10:14

Nooooooooooooooooo I hate dark evenings!

boschy · 26/10/2012 10:14

Lighter mornings, ok. But dark evenings? dark at 5pm? blerk.

scarevola · 26/10/2012 10:26

When's the change?

MrsKeithRichards · 26/10/2012 10:27

Go with the oldies they are well oldie and deserve a lie in when it is dark and cold, I hate the dark mornings , and an extra hour might have 3 glasses of wine on saturday instead of 2 ,

Mrskbpw · 26/10/2012 10:35

Oh me too. I hate dark mornings. And when the inevitable yawnsome annual debate happens about not changing the clocks to "get an extra hour of daylight" (this is clearly stupid as you can't just create an extra hour - you have to get it from somewhere else) I always think "NOOO!" It wouldn't get light until about 9am. Horrible.

Inneedofbrandy · 26/10/2012 10:38

I love dark evenings! I love shutting the curtains and putting the lamps on at 4. I also hate dark mornings so yes am veryuch looking forward to the change!

Mrsjay · 26/10/2012 10:39

OH havnt seen a thread about the clocks yet oop north will get blamed and we should keep the time as it is blah blah Grin it is miserable getting up in the dark nobody is able to open their eyes to function,

scarevola · 26/10/2012 10:40

When this weekend?

MrsKeithRichards · 26/10/2012 10:41

I'm only as north as Edinburgh, it must be even worse proper north!

And yes, north doesn't mean Manchester!!

yes saturday night it is supposed to be daft oclock on sunday morning 2 am or something I always do it before i go to bed on saturday

WorraLiberty · 26/10/2012 10:44

Oh this used to wind me up no end when my kids were babies.

People used to say, "Are you looking forward to the extra hour lie-in?"

And I'd be thinking, 'yeah do you want to explain it to the baby?' Hmm

But YANBU OP, now they're all growing up I love it Grin

scarevola · 26/10/2012 10:53

I googled. In case there are further people who need to know exactly when the change is, it is 2am on Sunday 28th October.

halcyondays · 26/10/2012 10:56

Yes, I don't mind the dark evenings but I hate the dark mornings.

Jusfloatingby · 26/10/2012 11:03

I like cosy dark evenings and putting the lights on early and closing the curtains at 4pm so I have no problem with the clocks going back.

porridgewithalmondmilk · 26/10/2012 11:08

I love cosy dark nights in November and especially in December with Christmas lights - it's my favourite time of year, I'm not a fan of British summers at all: muggy and wet!

Startailoforangeandgold · 26/10/2012 11:58

Horrible, DDs get home after dark.

DD2 needs to bounce on the trampoline and shake off an hour on the bus.

Startailoforangeandgold · 26/10/2012 11:59

Dec with fairy lights is fine, it's Nov I hate.
I wish the clocks waited until last weekend in nov.

EdsRedeemingQualities · 26/10/2012 12:04

I am dreading it too, it's already so gloomy and depressing in the mornings.

How we will get up and feel remotely enthusiastic about the day is beyond me.

And worse, I know it won't start getting lighter again till I've had this baby, which is an awful thought! I need sunlight and warmth and things to get dry.

quirrelquarrel · 26/10/2012 12:18

Which day does it go back?

I love dark mornings and nights (walking through the dusk at 6:30 kicking leaves around....lovely! I keep missing my way in the dark later though!). So I'm not bothered.
