People who are transgendered still face discrimination. They fiind it hard to get jobs, are often bullied out of work despite leglisation, are seen as a source of ridicule in the media (especially if they do not "pass") and often struggle for acceptance by others. They also often lose contact with their families and children because of who they are.

Despite all the positive acceptance you see on boards such as this.

i think that's true of more than just transgendered people.

I think no matter how hard we work, being different is never acceptable to some people in society

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/10/2012 16:01

Of course they do. People are hardwired to notice other people's differences, whatever they may be.

Some people are arses and will react to any differences in a negative way.

The transgendered are less common than, say, black people so people's reactions are going to be more extreme as the difference is greater.
