Ben Elton has the X-Factor and other TV talent shows summed up in his book, "Chart Idol". It is scarily true to life, even though it is satirical.

Problem is, DH & I have both read it and take the X-Factor even less seriously than we did before. Especially as we have now identified all the "stereotypes" that they have in every series...
