I work in a place thsa has a massively frustrating culture of 'put up and shut up' and 'we do it that way because we always have'.

It generally pisses me off.

However something seemingly insignificant has broken my last straw.

Something that was not ok for clients (and putting it right cost hundreds) has been dermed acceptable to do to staff.

I am so cross that we matter so little.

So I left a note. Boss will be displeased because I have dared question the decision.

I am seething.

I don't think theyd be able to ditch me. Because of the 'thing' being unnacceptable for the clients.

The actusl 'thing' doesn't matter and is a bit pointless. But I'm tired of being treated like shit.

Leaving things in writing is such a bad idea. What was the tone of the note?

Am actually changing departments in 3 weeks.

Is it so bad to question things? And to ask why something is ok for staff but not for clients? Why should we not matter?

It's all about politics innit. You have to be sensible when tackling things like this, and leaving a pissy note isn't sensible.

I can't imagine what happens to clients that also happens to staff...struggling with that tbh. I suppose it depends what industry you work in. Is it something to do with hotel stays?

Its an infection control thing in healthcare.

It's not bad to question things but notes generally come across as petty and not serious. If you really wanted to discuss it or bring it up ig might have been better to ask for a meeting with management.

ah i see - in that case I can see your frustration. So it's OK for them not to wash their hands after they've visited the toilet (or whatever ) but staff are policed on this? Because it's so important for infection control. well either it is or it isn't.

Infection control I would definitely demand a meeting, and if they didn't oblige I'd be informing whichever regulatory or official body I could to get a result!
