Mammoth.

Hear me out!

A well-preserved mammoth carcass has been in the permafrost of northern Siberia. Apart from bone they found flesh and organs. If they got DNA from the flesh and organs and created a genome, they could clone it and place the cloned embryo in an elephant to carry it to term.

It could happen, right? Right!? Grin

YY Grim Me too! Me too! I want a teacup Mammoth! (Wonder what the dogs will make of it?) Grin

ChaoticismyLife · 06/10/2012 17:21

A teacup-sized mammoth sounds perfect. I want one Grin

RunRabbit · 06/10/2012 17:28

You could breed them like dogs and get..

Teacup Mammoths like Yorkies
Sausage shaped Mammoth like the Dachshund
Or Hairless like the Chinese Crested Grin

No, I think it would have to be a full-sized mammoth. Imaging taking it for a walk. Although ... I suppose you would need bin bags to pick up its poo. And can you imagine the threads on Mumsnet about people who don't clear up their mammoth's poo!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/10/2012 17:35

I would prefer a House hippo.

picnicbasketcase · 06/10/2012 17:37

I want a tiny woolly elephant as much as the next person, but should they really mess around with DNA? Next thing you know there's an island somewhere full of paraceratherium and a really pissed off Richard Attenborough.

RunRabbit · 06/10/2012 17:43

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius Hippos are very aggressive towards humans. Would you keep it muzzled?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/10/2012 18:07

It would be a teeny tiny one, RunRabbit - I can't do the links on the iPad, but I'd you search house hippo on YouTube, you will find a video of the cute little creature.

maristella · 06/10/2012 18:12

I'd still like a tiny giraffe Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 06/10/2012 18:18

Id rather have a teacup Diplo docus! Grin

GrimAndHumourless · 06/10/2012 18:20

awwwwwwwwww teacup diplodocus

McHappyPants2012 · 06/10/2012 18:24

On spykids film there was a miniature zoo :)

Love a mini lion

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 06/10/2012 18:25

Dino :o

McHappyPants2012 · 06/10/2012 18:26

RunRabbit · 06/10/2012 18:29

The house Hippo is the size of a rat Grin

OP posts:
RunRabbit · 06/10/2012 18:32

That's unrealistic. You're not going to find any remains with Dinosaur DNA

LadyBeagleEyes · 06/10/2012 18:35

Mammoths always look a bit smelly to me.

redwhiteandblueeyedsusan · 06/10/2012 19:13

but not if you live in rented accomodation that specifies no petss.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 06/10/2012 22:37

You could have a teacup Pterodactyl. Keep it in the budgie cage? Grin

InvisibleHotPinkWeasel · 06/10/2012 22:41

we're still working on it

InvisibleHotPinkWeasel · 06/10/2012 22:42

My ds will be thrilled with the info in your op Grin, as will I ....I want a purple one.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/10/2012 23:22
I will settle for any savanna animal (mini-giraffe anyone?) or a mammoth. I'm not fussy.
