I suppose we would need a credible alternative.
Also we are supposed to be a democracy so if we had an alternative govt we thought we could trust we could, in theory, vote them in rather than having a violent overthrow.

Well said rubberglove. I don't think we're kicking up enough fuss but I only wish I knew what we could do. There is so much of it going on now that I think a lot of people are just accepting it as the norm and know that they personally, can't do much about it. Perhaps we could organize the rebellion against these cheats and money grabbers!

Because we are too compliant full stop in this country. We never complain, never make a fuss and it always amazes me that there's not more demonstrations against the government and organisations.

Organising a revolution seems like a lot of effort.

People dont want to believe that we are being walked over and lied to, lots of people want to live in La La Land. Also, its a case of Im alright Jack.

Maybe there could be a mumsnet march? Certainly against all the sex abuse cover ups and the apalling attitude to young girls.

I feel I have to do something

I think it's because....

A) There are no other alternatives

B) Even if they were, the Trust in any politician/spokesperson/business etc, old or new, has well and truly died and no-one will believe a thing they say.

C) Those who are woking can not afford the time off or the risk of loosing that job

I would even go far as to say the vast majority of people have in fact given up in fighting or protesting about anything and has now indeed resulted in the "I'm alright Jack" attitude.

How does one set up a political party??

We are ripe for it. But I think we're all too complacent.

I'd vote for a new party that offered an alternative and governed for the benefit of everyone, not just those who can shout the loudest, or make the biggest contributions to party coffers.

The soweto uprising was led by school children. The Arab uprising happened in nations where 50% of the population is under 25. So far the UK has just been lucky, that we are a society top heavy in senior members & not youth demographically.

A generation is being sold short. The number of NEETS is scary. If you include all those "interns" who will never get a proper salary to pay off their student loans, or those on "workfare" going nowhere the numbers of uneconomically productive 18-25 year olds in the UK becomes frightening.

Our rioters were ignored yet the reasons for that brief spell of anarchy were never properly addressed. The encampment outside St Pauls were marginalised in the MSM. So far all we've seen are single issue campaigns like the Occupy movement or the fast growth of national trust membership (not everyone's a radical lol!) Membership of single issue groups is rising at a phenomenal rate, just as official political party membership falls.

Eventually that will lead to 3 options for the nation - the rise of scary far left & right groups as seen in Greece or a unification of some of those single issue campaigns to form a more popularist uprising as demonstrated by Greece; or lastly full blown anarchy. At present I'm praying for the 2nd, Icelandic model to prevail, but I live in fear it'll be number 3 as so many of our young feel increasingly alienated and isolated from the mainstream as depicted by the Daily Mail et all.

Gerald Cente said a couple of years ago "Those with nothing left to lose, lose it!". I can see him being proved right, as the young hit a tipping point where they realise the current set up just isn't working and kick off properly.

10000 people need to block London, government and banking, you would be kettled and hosed by police and army and the press would spin it.
