Thread deletion.

I'm a bit Confused and Hmm that a thread has been deleted seemingly because my reply (the only one) wasn't intelligent enough! In the past i've requested one of my threads to be deleted but was told no as there was no good enough reason.

No doubt this will be deleted too as it's a thread about a (now non-existent) thread.

Hello

Am sure we didn't delete the thread because your post was not intelligent enough, fluffyraggies or all many of my pre-MNHQ posts would have been toast long ago

Afraid I wasn't on duty this morning but, if the OP itself contained a link, it's possible that it was spam or maybe a poster who's rather, ahem, over-enthusiastic about starting threads linking to the same site all the time...

If you can remember the OP's name, do mail contactus at mumsnet.com and we'll see if we can work out what happened.

@Mydogsleepsonthebed

Oops. caught. Grin

Feeling guilty, Mydogsleepsonthebed? Eh, eh?

@Tee2072

Did Helen just admit she was a MNetter before she was hired?!?!

A clue!!!

::starts advance searching ferociously::

(Not really. Doctor Who is on soon.)

Oh god...

@Mydogsleepsonthebed

i just meant because it's a thread about a thread. Which I thought was bad form. Blush

Oh, I see.

Actually, it might be a good time to clarify that one

A thread about a thread is indeed bad form, if - and this is the important bit - it's been started to mock/insult/badmouth/trollhunt/blow raspberries at another thread/posters on another thread. Or if it's been started purely to rake over the juicier details of a deleted thread.

Perfectly OK, though, (generally), to start a thread connected to another thread - a continuation thread, for example, or a thread inspired by another thread.

Or, as in this case, to ask MNHQ why a thread was deleted. Although we may then still delete if it turns into a rake over the juicier details, as above.

Clear as mud, eh?

HelenMumsnet · 22/09/2012 20:12

OK, looks like we messed up, in fact. The OP asked us to delete, fluffyraggies, but we wouldn't normally say yes with a thread like that.

Apols all around.
