The dreaded swimming costume dilemma

We're going somewhere hot and there's a pool. Going with 2 friends and our partners.

One is a size 8 and looks great, the other is a lovely curvey shape and I'm just fat!

I know, I know, women are women blah blah...

But, other than hiding under a blanket, what do I do???

You brazen it out!

Find a swimsuit that suits your shape - no matter what else - find one that makes you look and feel great and buy it. The right colour can make all the difference. I don't know what shape you are but most women I know have lovely shoulders - a halterneck can really show them off to advantage.

BHS do some really nice 'secure' swimming costumes, last time I looked they had some lovely 1950's style ones... as did New Look. I haven't been anywhere posher than that for a while, but I'm sure many places will stock the 1950's style as they're on trend. (Huzzah!)

You brazen it out....I'm extreeeemely large and I paint a smile on my face and wear a bikini!

Ok,
spray tan a good shave immac or wax.
A good cossie with some support and control and a well tied sarong.
Good haircut.
Water proof mascara.
Head high shoulders back and look confident.

How long have you got?? I have been doing slimming world for 2 weeks and my tummy is much flatter just from the slight weight loss and lack of bread.

I don't do brazen!

I should just get the fuck on with it... I have 2 weeks, so nothing short of a miracle.
A decent cossie is a good idea though...

And I'm a tall apple x

So you have good arms and legs then - and shoulders to die for?

In your position (unfortunately, I'm not - I'm an hourglass, which is horrible to dress for), I'd find a swimsuit with tummy control, ruching at the front, medium/high leg and a padded bust with a halterneck that you can tighten and accentuate your bust. My current swimsuit is M&S, my next one (a size down) is Boden - for no other reason than the cut/colour suits me. Find a department store and have a look online to get an idea of colours out there at the moment - and accessories.

I don't know about your colouring - I'm an anaemic-looking blonde - but I find that hot pink really works for me, so perhaps go with a daring new colour or multi-colour and find a swimsuit that will make you want to wear it - that's the key really - that you feel good about yourself.

I'd also have my hair done and get a wax - and pick up some nice beach/pool jewellery and nail varnish, etc. - lipgloss is also an instant feel-good for me.
