To want to hunt down and stab this post office worker

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 18:40

Well methodically speaking.

Made a store card payment using the post office, on 16th August using cash. I have the recipt, but the payment has vanished into thin air. Cue phone calls from store card company told them I had paid and got the recipt out only to be told I need to sort it out with them.

I have sent a photo copy of the recipt and not heard a peep.

So after a month I am still running around trying to get this payment made.

Wibu to demand the late payment fee and the cost of the calls.

Also what else can I do Because £50 for me is alot to lose

yabu for expressing such a sentiment against anyone.

yanbu to be unhappy your dosh has not been allocated correctly. I would have thought if you have a receipt that was printed all will be well. Although how this would not have been highlighted as not being reconciled by the Post Office at the end of the day, i can't fathom. Back in the day, each person had to reconcile their shift before they went home

CointreauVersial · 17/09/2012 18:43

Hmm....slightly OTT thread title.....

BupcakesandCunting · 17/09/2012 18:44

Do you mean metaphorically speaking?

And YABU. It's presumably a fault on the part of the payments department or the processing at the PO. Not the PO worker's fault. You have a receipt. As far as she/he is concerned, you paid.

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 18:49

Sorry about the title I am getting so wound up about the whole saga and I am sorry for using the wrong word.

puds11 · 17/09/2012 18:54

I would ask to change the title, its vile, and you will only receive a blasting for it.

Reported this thread :( should think before posting

OP posts:
Vinomcstephens · 17/09/2012 19:06

I don't think you sound horrible at all - just fed up, frustrated and desperate to get the saga sorted out which is exactly how I'd feel in your situation! Yes the thread title is slightly OTT but I think the OP has got that point now, so maybe suggestions as to getting this resolved may be a teeny bit more helpful Smile

OP have you been to the post office and asked them about it?

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 19:11

Yes they told me to ring a phone number and have been doing.

Lesson learnt don't deal with cash payments in future. I normally pay by card, but it was a nice day so decided to take a walk over the post office to pay this bill

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/09/2012 19:16

Oh who cares about the thread title.

YANBU. Hope you sort it out soon.

MrDobalina · 17/09/2012 20:19

methodically speaking???! Confused Grin

Sparklyblue · 17/09/2012 20:41

Another Op getting ripped to bits. Way to go Mumsnet. Turning nastier by the day Sad
Can some of you people not sympathise that the OP is at the end of her tether.
Here OP have a Wine

Secret7 · 17/09/2012 20:46

Have you been back to the post office with your receipt? They may start the tracing process from there.

Make sure you keep the original receipt in your possession.

WillSingForCake · 17/09/2012 20:46

It will be a technology fault, not the fault of any post office worker.

Sparklingbrook · 17/09/2012 20:49

While you are at it can you ask where my friend's son's birthday card disappeared to after being posted. Sad

Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 17/09/2012 20:51

I think people who want sensible help and advice shoud think about how their thread will appear before they post. OP - your thread title is awful. MNHQ may edit it for you if you ask thm to - hit 'report' above your first post and ask them to amend it.

With regard to your situation then you need to speak to the manager of the post office you used. Take the receipt and ask why it wasn't credited. They should be able to look back at transactions and find out what happened. Does your receipt look like any others you have? Totally complete and clear?

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 22:03

Receipt is clear, I don't have any previous receipts as I normally pay over the phone and the reference number goes in my file.

I did message MNHQ but it is up to them if the want to change the title, however I should of thought before I posted and not acted in pure frustration.

Give the OP a break FG'S! She has realised the title was OTT and has said she has reported it.

HollaAtMeBaby · 17/09/2012 22:14

YANBU! Can't you go back to the post office in person?

randomfemale · 17/09/2012 22:16

YANBU - what an utter PITA and if I thought £50 had gone adrift in the ether I would now be wailing into my vodka. Here is some Wine

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 22:20

I have done. I got a phone number.

I really feel like crying because of the situation with it all. This is not like me :(

OP posts:
ringodingo · 17/09/2012 22:26

when the post office worker balanced the till at the end of shift the till would of been over. every transaction is stored in the till and printed out on what is called a final balance rollover once a month.like a stock take thingy. ask to speak with the area manager they should be able to recify this. hope it helps

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 22:38

Thank you. :)
