To think there should be cake!

Our local soft play advertises "home made cakes" on their website.

I went there for the second time today and I haven't seen, let alone eaten, a cake there yet!

The first time they had a couple of suspiciously supermarkety cookies and claimed they had sold out of cake, today it was Pom Bears or nothing! They had prawn cocktail flavour, but there's something not right about fish flavoured teddys.

WTF am I supposed to do while DS tears around like a lunatic gets his exercise if not stuff my face with carrot cake? How am I going to get my 5 a day now?

How do I deal with this? WIBU to organise some kind of mass cake scoffing sit in?

(Disclaimer- this is a light hearted thread,I am not that unhinged, but I do still want cake)

Where are they? They clearly need a new cake supplier. Maybe you could find a suitably located MNer to supply cakes and that way you get to choose which ones.

FutureNannyOgg · 14/09/2012 14:29

Somerset. To add insult to injury, the owners seem to also run some kind of fancy cupcake cart for parties thing, there are leaflets and signs about it all over, and the cakes look gorgeous Envy

Confused - maybe they are so busy with cupcakes they have no time to make proper cake?

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 14/09/2012 16:22

YANBU. Even if you were ever so slightly unhinged, you would still NBU.

WelshMaenad · 14/09/2012 16:26

Soft play without consolatory cake? Purgatory. Kill them. With a cake slice to their cold, unfeeling hearts.

Dahlen · 14/09/2012 16:27

New self-employed business opportunity?

Noqontrol · 14/09/2012 16:29

Utterly outrageous. They are tempting you in with false advertising. I would write a letter of complaint. Start a protest group on fb. Get together the other outraged parents and form a picket line outside. Wave big banners saying I want to have my cake and eat it.

SuoceraBlues · 14/09/2012 16:29

Protesting lack of cake is never unreasonable.

AlbertoFrog · 14/09/2012 16:30

YANBU.

There should always be cake. Everywhere!

One of DS's first words was cake Blush

Icelollycraving · 14/09/2012 16:44

Yanbu.

deakymom · 14/09/2012 16:58

dobalina · 14/09/2012 17:08

TheFogsGettingThicker · 14/09/2012 17:30

TheFogsGettingThicker · 14/09/2012 17:34

Yes. YANBU.

Painful, the broken promise of cake.Angry

FutureNannyOgg · 14/09/2012 17:36

Thank you all.

I really did need cake, especially after going after DS1 (2yo) to rescue him from the top of the climbing maze thing with DS2 (6 wo)in a sling (I came down the steps though, after posting DS1 down the slide Grin.

I made one of these allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/7622/5-minute-chocolate-mug-cake.aspx and I feel much better.

WelshMaenad · 14/09/2012 17:38

Bunnywhack, we did signing with dd due to speech delay and 'biscuit' was the first one she picked up - she sometimes still does it when she says biscuit, completely subconciously, and she's six Grin.

Bellyjaby · 14/09/2012 17:46

There should always be cake. Everywhere. It should be a law or something.

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 14/09/2012 18:02

Cake is what makes the world go round.

LEAVE THE BASTARDS!

PuppyMonkey · 14/09/2012 18:06

I would contact local newspaper to do a story. They could do a photo of you and other mums pointing to empty counter with Sad faces. Kids too
