To hate the bit between getting home and bed

Dd does nothing but scream and whine from the minute we get in to the minute she goes to bed. She wants up but only to get things she shouldn't have she definitely doesn't want to go down or be cuddled she wants all my attention but not do anything with me it's infuriating! All this while I try to cook us tea means tea takes double the time. She's a different child on weekend and my day off.

Is she overtired? Is she having a sleep during the day? I used to try and batch cook at weekends so I had more time to sort dcs out in the evenings.

I think that time is one of the hardest times to cope with, they're tired, you're tired and there is so much to be done in that short time.

I'll admit to many an evening when DD3 was younger that I would pick her up from the childminder, whack the heating up in the car and drive round till she fell asleep. Then put her straight to bed (bad mother Shock)

You could try cooking easy things or batch cook on a weekend to make work days easier maybe.

I dunno if she's tired she still has a long sleep at nursery. I do batch cook but even reheating or cooking pasta is a challenge. It took 25 mins tonight to do an omelette cos she was screaming.

Could she be hungry? Could you sit her in a highchair close to where you are cooking and give her bits to nibble (veg sticks, breadsticks, etc) while you cook and talk to her. Just an idea to try.

Ready meals, frozen veg. Wsitrose, weigjt watchers are nice. Nobody will die because of that. Take it easy

Couldn't you play a dvd on the PC? Baby Einstein are incredibly soothing.

The Witching hour! Its pretty widespread for most people and generally the result of tiredness (adult and child) - often it helps to have a drink or snack on the way home.
