to care about table manners?

My DH got all stroppy with me for pointing out that it wasn't nice to lick his knife then stick it in the sauce jar. Said I was disrespectful for saying it in front of the children. I think table manners matter and the Dc should learn what is acceptable. Or am I just being old fashioned?

I cannot bear this. My DF puts his own fork into the dinner server, eats some, then puts it back in. Yuk.

Hahaha you should come to one of our family meals. Which mostly consist of me reminding dh the children not to slack jaw, to wait until they've finished chewing to speak, elbows off the table, wait until everyone has finished... Blush

I have also explained that one day they will thank me I hope

I'm glad it's not just me Smile. How are children supposed to know how to behave at the table unless we show them?
