Mortgage company.DH and. I split up four years ago and I stayed in the house with our 3 dc. I have since met and had 2 dc with a new DH. House has been on the market a good while and despite reducing the price considerably we are still waiting for that elusive sale. We have horrible neighbours and the kids haven't played in garden for years our drive is constantly blocked and My exdh name is still on the mortgage. At times I feel like handing the keys over and doing a runner AIBU?

Yes. Because they'll then sell it at auction for a thumping loss, sting you for a fortune in legal and other fees, and hunt you down like a dog to get the shortfall from you. If you're that desperate to be rid of it, then put it into an auction yourself. At least you can negotiate on the auctioneers fee, control legal costs, and set a minimum amount you'll accept. Good luck.

How is ExDH still on the mortgage if you got divorced? Didn't you sort that out in the divorce?

goldenwispa · 06/09/2012 19:45

The mortgage company would not allow for me to take the mortgage on alone x

Can't your new husband take over the mortgage with you to get your ex off?

goldenwispa · 06/09/2012 19:50

Nope, my earnings have changed cos I am a SAHM and carer to SN son so they will only take DH earnings into account x

lisaro · 06/09/2012 20:04

Can you let the house and rent elsewhere?

goldenwispa · 06/09/2012 20:06

We would not get enough from the rent to cover the mortgage. I've just been looking into auctioning it...

Ooooo, that is tempting.

Why was George Micheal covered in chocolate?

Because he was careless with his Wispa.
