What is this 'seen by' business? Thought the whole point of FB is that you can stalk skim friends posts without feeling obliged to lol etc?

I dont actually think its "been seen" . Ive sent my friend PM's this week and straight away it has said "seen at bla bla" now she hasn't replied for a few hours /next day and she wouldn't have any need to not reply once its been seen so I wonder how true it is .
Its almost impossible now to hide away whilst on fb , every move you make is seen by everyone on your friends list.

Oh on PM's. Saw this the other day but as the iPhone app kept crashing it was pretty hard to tell if it was working!

Totally agree, yadnbu. I don't want people to know I've seen things they've posted, especially as the only time I do look at things is when I'm being nosey! It's utterly ridiculous and getting worse everyday.

I have it on PMs, but only for group messages unless it's on my phone, then I have it for all PMs. I see it on groups too, but I don't know if it's anywhere else.

I agree though, I'll have a nose at someone's profile if they come up in a friends post and I vaguely recognise them, but I don't want them knowing I did that!

I keep apologising for not replying to people quickly enough. I have several tabs open and one of them is always FB. People message me and they must thingk I have seen it, but I am on MN or on rare occasions doing course work.

well i like it. cos sometimes if your busy making the tea or changing a nappy and canny type at least your pal knows you've seen it, although how they know you've seen it I don't know unless you make a keystroke or something to show you are at the computer...so that side of it is a bit mad, then you get mrs bloggs is typing, but then i goes away again, so like she has 2 windows open maybe? but i still like it cos im a cosy nunt

My DSis has just got a brand new laptop and her Google has a virtual hamster you can feed and it follows your cursor around

It's on single PMs too.

I've remembered how you see it on the computer for single people- go to chat and click on that person so you get the little box at the bottom of the screen. It'll tell you there under the message once they've seen it.

Nope I still don't have it even on PMs. I have chat permanently disabled though, meybe that's why?
