Redundancy question!

dolallylass · 05/09/2012 22:18

I know IABU but I have literally scoured the sections on MN and don't know where to put this and I know you guys know everything! Was told I'm being made redundant in the morning. Are there are questions I need to ask in the meeting etc?? Advice welcome.

Could you re-post under Employment Issues?

complexnumber · 05/09/2012 22:20

Why do you think you abu?

thenightsky · 05/09/2012 22:20

Oh... and do you have union representation? Is this the first you've heard of it? If so, it's a bit short notice to organise a rep to be with you.

complexnumber · 05/09/2012 22:20

what nightsky said

thenightsky · 05/09/2012 22:21

complex I think she put it under AIBU as she could figure out which section to use.

There should be consultation before you are told you are definitely losing your job. About 30 days I think.

Negotiate on leaving package. Start high! Ask about other opportunities if you would rather still have a job. Ask about time off for job hunting/interviews while on your motive period, or better yet ask if you can work your notice not in the office. Ask about CV skills/training opportunities.

Good luck. Smile

It is not a 30 day consultation period. That is only in collective redundancy situations. Have you been through any consultation yet? The process should take a week or so

TellyBug · 05/09/2012 22:26

I stand corrected Smile

Yeah sorry BU about posting in this section. I'm not allowed to stay I'd be on 7 weeks gardening leave from tomorrow. It's a tricky one cos I hate it there and as the whole company is failing its a very toxic environment so a relief in a way but don't want to miss something in negotiations!

Sorry bit shell shocked Sad not making sense!

Was taken in today 5 mins before my finish time and told there's meeting at 11am tomorrow and just to come in for that. Then I'll leave straight after that.
