Its often said "Infatuation is a one way street" Not always, surely

Love (as in romantic love) is something that grows over time, infactuation is immediate and all consuming.

niceguy2 · 04/09/2012 16:01

If you have to ask then it's infatuation.

RevDebeezWoodall · 04/09/2012 16:02

Farting

floatingquoter · 04/09/2012 16:04

:o Rev. In that case DH is very in love with me.

Infatuation is fickle, People get infatuated with the "idea" of a person.

"I can't live without her!"

Love is when reality kicks in and it's OK.

"I want to spend my life with him"

lolaflores · 04/09/2012 16:35

Infatuation is like a virus, you get over it.
Love is terminal

lolaflores · 04/09/2012 16:35

that is very unromantic and sorry to piss on any parades. that kinda day

KellyElly · 04/09/2012 16:49

lolaflores I like that illness analagy Grin

GoldenBabooshka · 04/09/2012 16:53

Lola you have no idea how that analogy appeals to my Gothic nature.

I'm considering embroidering it on a pillow.
:o

NovackNGood · 04/09/2012 16:56

Infatuation is very annoying for the other person and verging on being a stalker.

Love is when the other person is not interested and out of love you will leave then alone and let them get on with their life without badgering them

LouMacca · 04/09/2012 16:57

Why do you ask OP? Need to talk?

BurlingtonBertieFromBow · 04/09/2012 17:04

I think infatuation can go both ways can't it? Usually people are infatuated with each other when they have affairs. I think infatuation is baseless and 'just because'. You can be infatuated with someone you don't even like very much as a person. Love is longer-lasting and has a basis.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 04/09/2012 17:05

My theory is that love is with the actual person, infatuation is with the idea of them, the idea of relationships and the idea of being in love.

lolaflores · 04/09/2012 17:06

Babs baby, embroider away, in your tall tower as you watch the road for you lover

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 04/09/2012 17:33

mrsterry has said just what I was going to post.

Are you ok OP?

SirBoobAlot · 04/09/2012 17:36

In the words of ALW, "Love never dies".

Why do you ask, OP? Are you okay?

tethersend · 04/09/2012 17:47

Gabby?

complexnumber · 04/09/2012 19:32

I'd go along with the fart test.

maras2 · 04/09/2012 19:56

I love my husband but am sometimes infatuated with Andrew Scott.

whitewineinthesun · 04/09/2012 20:00

GoldenBabooshka if you like the medical analogy, listen to Tim Minchinn's You Grew on Me. Soooooooo true....

catgirl2012 · 04/09/2012 20:02

Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don't blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.?

Louis de Bernieres

Had a point IMO

GhostShip · 04/09/2012 20:33

Love is pure.

I thought I loved my ex, I was with him for four years. After being with my DP for just one year I realise I didn't know what love was until now. It was a sick infatuation I had.

queencat · 04/09/2012 22:45

Bloody hell catgirl if only I had known that quote when my ex buggered off because life with a family got 'boring' Grin
