whats the difference between love and infatuation?

Its not an easy question.

Its often said "Infatuation is a one way street" Not always, surely

Love (as in romantic love) is something that grows over time, infactuation is immediate and all consuming.

If you have to ask then it's infatuation.

I think infatuation can go both ways can't it? Usually people are infatuated with each other when they have affairs. I think infatuation is baseless and 'just because'. You can be infatuated with someone you don't even like very much as a person. Love is longer-lasting and has a basis.

My theory is that love is with the actual person, infatuation is with the idea of them, the idea of relationships and the idea of being in love.
