AIBU to be smug

that my plan of leaving school shoe shopping till today worked? Served in 10 minutes, tried on one pair of shoes, bought pair of shoes. Admittedly I was bloody lucky as DDs feet are an E, (so the ShoeZone/Tescos fit-yourself-cos-it's-not-rocket-science option very rarely works) and there were only two pairs of shoes in the shop which would have fit her, but even so, I've feeling very pleased with myself, having saved days weeks of stress.

smug? not very nice

squoosh · 04/09/2012 14:08

We're all allowed a dollop of smug from time to time Smile

HipHopOpotomus · 04/09/2012 14:08

I did most of it 7 weeks ago, no hassle at all, and I got 20% off! (Yes everything still fits.)

But I'd hardly say I felt 'smug' about it. I'm a first timer, and despite what I read on here, it was really easy.

MikeLitorisRings · 04/09/2012 14:09

I did pretty much all of my uniform shopping today.

Always leave it to the last possible minute.

Only thing I haven't got is ds people mad games kits. But that is down to them not being delivered to the school yet.

valiumredhead · 04/09/2012 14:11

I did the first week of the holidays

OTTMummA · 04/09/2012 14:15

I did it last week, they accounted for the rush and I didn't have to wait, ( not even time to get a ticket! ) they were very quick, got shoes, trainers and plimp soles under 10 mins! I wasn't smug though just grateful.

MikeLitorisRings · 04/09/2012 14:17

Eh? No idea what my phone was saying there. I meant pe and games kit Blush

anklebitersmum · 04/09/2012 14:17

yanbu to be smug but yabu to be more smug than me cos I got 50% off the Clarks boots I got the girls last Friday! Grin

IShallWearMidnight · 04/09/2012 14:19

after a combined total of 24 years of it, I think I've paid my dues to school shoe shopping hell.

she'd have worn last term's ones for a couple of days till they ordered in her size.

I'll raise your smugness.

Mine done about 4 weeks ago, via a pre-booked fitting appointment, so quick. Two pairs of Clarks shoes bought in a factory shop with addditional 30% off factory shop prices = £22 FOR TWO PAIRS. (I think they were £30 each originally!) Grin

And managed to get them both sorted despite funny thin feet sizes.

Evasmum12 · 04/09/2012 14:38

I've just been to Asda (not to buy school shoes) and it was utter carnage. Blood, sweat and tears flowing freely.

I'd say you were very lucky!.

gordyslovesheep · 04/09/2012 14:39

Not sure I get the smugness - I didn't have to wait to get my three fitted 2 weeks ago - lucky rather than smug!

StaceeJaxx · 04/09/2012 14:39

I did it online, had them delivered. Am very smug. me. Wink

mistlethrush · 04/09/2012 14:40

I went two weeks ago to confirm that the shoes bought for DS at the beginning of last term were still OK. They weren't :(

financialwizard · 04/09/2012 14:44

My eldest started secondary last week. So we trotted off to buy him school shoes in Clarks a couple of weeks ago as we just moved back to the UK from overseas I couldn't do it earlier and it was awful. I never ever want to experience that again.

firawla · 04/09/2012 14:45

I hope I get as lucky as you, I've left it till now because every time I go in to do it and the shops are packed out I just think argh nooo and leave it for another time. I would feel more smug if I had got it sorted already and not left it last minute but as long as it gets done in time for them to go back to school doesnt really matter either way!

FoxSake · 04/09/2012 14:50

Yep of course, I think smugness is a good thing!

OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere · 04/09/2012 14:55

Popped into sports direct and got ds2's school shoes in 5 minutes for £14.99 yesterday.

Whoop whoop.
If only I could find the hidden grey joggers mountain that I know is somewhere out there.

akaemmafrost · 04/09/2012 14:57

I love smug. There is always a place for smug imvho Grin.
