photo of a baby with a big tumour.

Status reads something like 'if you love me thank you. If you hate me fuck you'.
Then underneath claims facebook is donating money
$1 for a like
$2 for a share
$3 for a comment.

That is lies is it not? Why would FB giving money?

I am not unreasonably (i think) cross.

And why are my reasonably intelligent friends °liking'it?

Yes its bollocks, I hate stuff like that on fb too and judge the people who share it.

MrsKeithRichards · 03/09/2012 15:20

Total shit.

PseudoBadger · 03/09/2012 15:21

There's been a real spate of these on my news feed lately. Worst one was last night with a picture of a puppy sitting next to it's mother who has clearly been dead a while and scavenged :( I can't even remember what the text said.

SheelaNeGig · 03/09/2012 15:22

And how does one report and to who? Am on phone and no big red button to hit.

DozyDuck · 03/09/2012 15:22

There's loads of stuff on there that's ridiculous! Using photos of disabled children/ adults for 'likes' saying if you think this is beautiful etc etc. I think they are beautiful but I won't 'like' a photo of a person who has probably nicked that photo just to get 'likes' on fb. Ridiculous. A lot of my intelligent friends seem to do it though.

SheelaNeGig · 03/09/2012 15:23

And the semi-illiterate text speaking comments are getting right on my tits.

kinkyfuckery · 03/09/2012 15:24

Oh I hate these posts! Sick, attention seeking, and of no benefit to anyone!

CaptainHetty · 03/09/2012 15:24

No, they aren't giving money to anyone. These things drive me mad. People using pictures of ill children, grieving partners of military personnel and anything else in an effort to see how many 'likes' they can get out of it. I think it's more than a bit vulgar.

You'll usually find somewhere in the comments the person who posted it has put something like 'if you want 1000 friend requests subscribe to meeee!' ... That's the only aim to it, really. They want to look popular.

ErikNorseman · 03/09/2012 15:35

Fucking stupid, moronic public grief wanking. I hate it and I will block anyone who shares distressing pictures or videos on my feed.

threesocksmorgan · 03/09/2012 15:36

they are as bad as the the put this on your status ones

Bossybritches22 · 03/09/2012 15:37

Hide them...arrow top right of each post.

arthurfowlersallotment · 03/09/2012 15:37

I've seen a few Like If You Hate Cancer ones.

Does anyone actually like cancer?

DozyDuck · 03/09/2012 15:39

There's even one with a little girl who has no hair saying she has cancer. When she obviously doesn't it's a different disease completely. I think it's the one that accelerates the ageing process? So that photo was obviously stolen and the comments on it made that clear Sad

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 03/09/2012 15:41

I get quite a few but only because I sign up to a lot of groups that petition against animal cruelty and post articles and incidents. Those are upseting but are not being done to gain popularity. Very occasionally (say once in 4 months) I'll share a link or a pic with apologies for the content but because more people need to know.
Gratuitous nonsense would anger me too- exploitation of others - all this "like if you agree that this is cruel" shit.

VonHerrBurton · 03/09/2012 15:45

Oh. My. God. Reading bollocks like that simply reinforces that my decision to have nothing to do with Facebook, ever, was the right thing to do.

What a crock of shit.

greenhill · 03/09/2012 16:01

It is best to change your news feed settings so that you only receive "only important" status updates from your friends.

That way you can block all the unwanted invitations to play FarmVille or whatever craze is currently sweeping FB. Also click on the right hand corner of those posts and you can block or delete, if you are not interested in your old school friend's personalised horoscopes!

It is always worth checking your personal settings regularly as FB tends to do regular updates that allow more of your personal info to be read.

A game that I've been playing for a few years did a recent upgrade and when I rechecked my settings they'd completely altered my strict privacy settings. This was a Zynga game, so independent of FB.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 03/09/2012 16:07

I bloody hate these and recently deleted some moron who shared a picture of an aborted foetus which originated from an american right wing political group.

The one that really winds me up are the ones that say "like if you are against child abuse" - the implication being that if you don't like it you must be all for child abuse.
The delete friend option is there for this reason!
