Especially when your wedding isn't till November 2013?

No, I can't defriend her, she recently became my boss!

Do I really need to know? Does anyone care?

Its like those baby tickers.

Roger is 47 years, 8 months and 4 days - and he still hasn't married (I wonder why)

Or the pregnancy ticker

Its 127 days since I was rogered drunkenly, my baby is the size of small kumkwat and can suck its own thumb

AWomanCalledHorse · 31/08/2012 20:18

Why not, everyday it counts down type;
Eeeeek 281 days to go! How exciting, what have you planned today?'
Yay 280 days to go! How fabby, what have you planned today?'
Woooo 279 days to go! How amazing, have you got your dress yet'
Ahhhh ONLY 278 days to go! How wonderful, have you planned your hen night yet?

DrSeuss · 31/08/2012 20:20

Today, I really wanted to type, "Are you getting married? Goodness, I didn't realise! You never mentioned it!"

Kill that joy! Stab it in the face.

DrSeuss · 31/08/2012 20:23

Kill the joy? No, I genuinely wish her well. Her previous DP and the father of her 2 sons was an arse and the new bloke seems lovely. But it's over a year away and I feel that by the time we get there, there may be an element of wedding fatigue!

YANBU to think that you don't need it, but of course we all knew that. Nobody needs Facebook at all.

We are on Mumsnet, home of the no-tickers.

NovackNGood · 31/08/2012 20:24

That is just setting herself up for a 2 am post after a hen night argument of 14 days ..leaving it late to start the diet post .

Bellyjaby · 31/08/2012 20:44

I had a divorce ticker. Made me smile so much everytime I saw it.

LadyWidmerpool · 31/08/2012 22:19

Just hide her posts then.

You are not being unreasonable; a countdown timer to one?s wedding on Facebook is certainly not needed. But then again a lot of things aren't needed; they're fun but they're not essential. Facebook itself is not needed, I remember living a large portion of my life without it and while I admit that the happiest part of my life has been while Facebook has been in existence the two facts are by no means related.

Mumsnet too falls into the category of things that we don't really need as does the whole of the internet. Humans lived for years without running water, sewage systems, electricity, democracy, government, central heating, indoor toilets, washing machines, tumble driers, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, penicillin, the NHS, hospitals, modern medicine, homes, engines, the wheel and so on. Strictly speaking we need none of those things. And yet I find life is so much more enjoyable and easy with them around and maybe that is the case with this wedding countdown. It may just be that someone is looking forward to their big day and wants to share their excitement and happiness with others and if that is something that happens as a result of all the other non-essential developments I hope you?ll agree that is has been mostly worth it.
