designed airports then they would make they women's loos twice or three times as big as the mens. Do men not notice the size of the queues outside women's loos and think, 'mmm, how can we improve this?'.

Why single out airports? It's the same everywhere.

I remember my clubbing days - men would be in and out, whereas the queue for the women's snaked round the corner and took forever. Many a life-long friendship has been forged in the women's loos.

I'd include several family-sized cubicles (accessible to women and men) so that I could take a couple of DC (ideally a buggy too) in with me without somebody having to squeeze in next to the cistern before we could close the door.

it's really clever and enlightening to simply go ' . if you have something interesting to say then say it.

I single out airports as i use them (often with children) a lot and find this problem doesn't translate the same to the local town centre or cinema etc. For some reason i find it worst in airports (maybe a bit long in the tooth to go clubbing though distantly remember the unjoys of the female toileting etiquette or lack of available loos).

Not sure we really need seperate loos anyway, all accessable ones are unisex.

Why not just have cubicles with a washbasin in and a propper door that comes down to the floor that are large enough for a wheelchair or buggy or three small children to fit in?

I know one place like this and it works.

Have you seen the new loos at Gatwick? Each cubicle, and there were a gamillion of them, has is it's own bathroom with space for stuff and your own sink and hand dryer. Pure luxury.

Women do design airports, but they don't determine how many toilets there should be. Much like any other building type, there are minimum standards which determine the number of male & female toilets, ordinarily a Client (who is paying for the building) won't want to pay for any more toilets than the minimum standards require.

So...it's the standards that need to change, not the gender of the designer!
