I have had a cold since a week on Sunday so this is day 10. I have a really sore throat still, a sore ear and a hacking dry cough. WIBU to go to the doctors tomorrow when is is most likely just a cold. I don't think it's a chest infection as it seems like a dry cough. I think I should wait a couple of more days but my family think I should go to the docs.

Sounds like an infection. Idaho

NameChangeGalore · 28/08/2012 19:37

I'D GO. Not Idaho.

cozietoesie · 28/08/2012 20:21

Please go. It could be a persistent cough - but it could be something else.

I had one go on like that and finally relented and went to the doctor. Turned out I had bronchitis, so it's worth a visit.

Ilovesunflowers · 28/08/2012 20:27

In the last hour or so I've had a really hard job swallowing so I do think I need to go tomorrow. It really hurts to swallow.

Awww sunflowers it sounds awful, you've probably got a really nasty tonsillitis. Can you see them all swollen in the back if you look in the mirror. I know I looked when Dd complained about soreness and swallowing when she was sick and OMG they were touching and there was puss. We went in that day for her.

Ilovesunflowers · 28/08/2012 20:54

My tonsils look red but no worse than any other sore throat I've had. The pain is a lot worse though. No puss as far as I can tell.

I think as mums 'grown ups' we tend to put ourselves last and worry more about the rest of the family. Try to rest, lots of nice drinks, stay warm etc, and DO go to see the Dr

Thanks to all who replied. I didn't end up going in the end. My throat is still sore but it's definitely improving. If not completely better by Monday I will go to the docs as it's gone on too long. I feel a lot better in myself.

Snurk at "Idaho" :o

Stick some apple juice in the microwave (or make up some squash with boiled water) and mix some honey into it. Very soothing, I always have it when I get a sore throat.
