I've just done the thing I didn't think possible and washed my engagement ring down the plug home. How the hell do I get it back? I've just undone what I assume is the u bend (?!) and it's not in there. DH works away so can't help and I don't want to tell him unless I need to. It's gone isn't it?? Is there anything else I can do?

Find the outlet to the drain, put a pair of tights securely over it, and a sieve in the hole too ... then run the water. Thats the only way you'll flush it out, if it hasn't gone that far.

I feel for you. Its an irreplaceable thing.

Anyway it has caught between the plug and U-bend? Can you unscrew the plug bit to have a look?

OMG I love you lot!! I did what jumping said and then saw randoms message so undid the u-bend again and unscrewed the plug hole bit. Thank god I tip fat down the plug hole is all I can say
