To expect more from my iCandy Cherry? Advice needed pls...

Hi, have a bit of a problem with my pram and need advice. It's complicated as we're now overseas with a pram I can't use...

Bought the iCandy Cherry in the UK last summer when PG. Started using it early October when DD was a few days old. Loved the pram, bought the carrycot and chair sections as well as the foot muff and travel bag. We also have a car seat that clicks into the base.

Roll on to June and the back wheels started to slant on their axle. Returned the pram to the independent retailer I bought it from and they told me this was a common problem and as a result they had stopped stocking this type of iCandy. In the end, we did a deal whereby they paid for a new axle and I paid for two new back wheels (approx. £40). They claimed that wheels were not covered under guarantee. The fact that there was nothing wrong with my old wheels, rather the old axle, didn't seem to make much difference... My old wheels would not fit the new axle as this is where the design fault has been identified and hence the fitting was a different shape.

So this is where is gets tricky. I agreed to the new axle/wheel fix as we were just about to move abroad and I needed my pram to work. We are now overseas and both wheels keep FALLING OFF the pram. Not once or twice, rather every 100 metres or so. I am sick of trying to click them back in. DH and I have taken the whole thing apart, cleaned all fittings etc more than once and it's like the whole clip for the back wheels is faulty.

So - what do I do? My pram is useless, I'm stuck using an old Maclaren umbrella stroller at the mo and I can't physically get the pram back to where I bought it from as we're an 8 hour flight away.

So annoyed as it's a pain practically, let alone the best part of £1000 we have spent on a pram etc. that was meant to last more than one child. DD is only 11 months old :o( And it's still within guarantee...

Nothing I can say to help, but do people spend £1000 on prams these days? Wow! Contents insurance?

Hmm, difficult one. Did you buy it on credit card? Sounds like it's not really fit for purpose, so you could do some kind of chargeback on your credit card maybe, if the shop won't help.
Incidentally, I also have an icandy cherry and have noticed that the wheels nearest to me are wonky (are they the back or front wheels?). Noticed this a while ago but they've not fallen off yet and its nearly 3 years old. I have jinxed it now, haven't I...

It is the back wheels, yes. The irony is, if we had stayed with the old, wonky back wheels, it was a bit more difficult to push than it was originally but nowhere near as bad as the situation now. It's just useless - like a car with no wheels!

The £1000 - so approx £500 for the base and chair seat, an extra £150 for the carrycot top, £200 for a compatible car seat and adapters, £85 for a footmuff and £75 for the carry bag. It all adds up. Incidentally, my mum gave us £500 towards it and is upset that a gift she thought would be used by not just this GC is now rendered worthless.

I'm not sure re the credit card, I suspect not as the shop doesn't accept Amex, which is what I use for everything if I buy on credit due to the airmiles points. I need to look out the paperwork and guarantee (which I have kept, pretty organised like that).

Thanks for all the replies and advice so far.
