Name change.

I am sure it is nothing. But a little while ago I found a lump on my cervix. Today I have noticed it has got a lot bigger. I have stomach ache & bled between periods a few times recently. Had a normal smear about a year ago, no contraception (TTC) since then.

Tell me IABU, and why. (I will go see the doctor on Tuesday just in case.)

I have to ask if you really mean cervix, because I don't routinely examine mine.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 26/08/2012 17:10

I must admit, I wondered that..

CocktailsAndFriedChicken · 26/08/2012 17:10

Yes cervix

Of course YANBU to worry a little. That's why you are doing the smart thing and going to your GP. You are just being sensible.
Good luck on Tuesday.

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 26/08/2012 17:11

Oh, I don't think I could touch mine if I tried, the nurse has a hell of job with her lolly stick when I'm cranked open (TMI) IYSWIM

I'm glad to hear you had a normal smear a year ago. It usually takes a long time for a tumour to develop (more than a year). You need need this investigating urgently though. I am a health professional.

I have one too Cocktails, mine was just my cervix happens to be a different shape rather than anything more sinister. Always best to get checked out though.

Good luck TTC too.

To those who haven't personally don't have reason to do this. It's perfectly normal to feel your cervix as part of trying to TTC. Nothing weird or to be embarrassed about. I felt mine this morning, washed my hands and got on with my life.

RevDebeezWoodall · 26/08/2012 17:34

Sorry badly phrased * haven't personally done this or don't have reason to do this.

GhouliaYelps · 26/08/2012 17:37

Could it just be something normal? I mean cervix are quite lumpy to feel I imagine. I would leave it well alone and get it checked over by a gynocologist.

CocktailsAndFriedChicken · 26/08/2012 17:55

Well it may be normal but it isn't normal for me IYSWIM, as I have been checking my cervix on and off and this lump is definitely new.

Thanks for the TTC luck, not much happening in the last 10 months Sad

I had this and it was a 'fatty lump' or something, nothing sinister. Best to get it checked though.

ReindeerBollocks · 26/08/2012 18:07

I was advised that lumps should be checked but are completely normal.

However, it shouldn't change shape or size, and bleeding in between periods is always a sign to get to the GP.

Good luck for tuesday, it could just be a cyst, but its best to err on the side of caution.
