is it unreasonable to expect an 8 year old to keep a 3 year old out of the garden as he will ruin his new shoes.

i think it is, but friend thinks 8 years od is old enough to know

8 yo is probably old enough to be told to play with 3 yo away from the garden for a bit but I think it's madness to buy a 3 yo shoes that'd be ruined by playing in a garden.
