On hols for 2 weeks in US. Sounds great right? Far from it. Spending 2 weeks in my in-laws house, cooking, cleaning, washing up, doing laundry etc for the entire f@cking household. Kids and husband are having a great time hanging out at pool, playing football etc but I literally have not stopped since we landed. I'm knackered. And when I get back to uk, I return to my 60-hour minimum per week FT job so that i can pay off the credit card for this holiday. Is this just the way it is being a mother?

Why are you doing it? No other bugger is helping because they know you will do it!!

Why?

Are they all stricken with a virus or something?

Time to hand over to husband with the words 'it's my holiday too'

I watch them walk their plates over to the sink and leave them on the side. Unwashed. They can't even be arsed putting them in the dishwasher. That's his parents. I want to grab the plates and smash them on the floor. I actually think I'm going mad.

Why am I doing it? Because I'm trying to look after my kids. And the kitchen is such a disgusting pit that I can't face cooking in it without cleaning it up. But the bigger question is why did I agree to this in the first place. Stupid stupid stupid.

Stop doing it! It's not your house. And if the dishes and shit piles up then eat out. Start striking now and go and put your feet up with a well deserved drink.

TellyBug · 19/08/2012 22:41

Er, why are you doing all that? Just stop. No one likes a martyr.

Justhadenough · 19/08/2012 23:19

Tell your DH to start helping. If he doesn't then stop, as Shakey1500 said.
If you really really can't stop yourself just to the least amount possible.

grobagsforever · 19/08/2012 23:21

Go out to eat. For every meal. And grow a backbone :-)

valiumredhead · 19/08/2012 23:23

Martyr - just don't do it.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 19/08/2012 23:25

Stop doing it, and use the already abused credit card to take you and your children out to eat. Tell your DH to get off his arse and do something.

Sunnydelight · 20/08/2012 00:24

Can you book a cheap motel for the last few days to give you something to look forward to?

Meanwhile get your DH to pull his weight or as others have said just stop, chill out and eat out!
