Going to ask a daft question

Would this look stupid rather than aibu.

In my lounge I have patio doors and next to them but the wall seperating there is a biggish window with a radiator beneath. I'm decorating, atm I have full length curtains on both the patio doors and the window. I'm sick of the full length curtains on the window because they cover the radiator and basically are just too long. But would it look silly to have short curtains on the window and long ones on the patio door? As they are on the same wall.

I don't think it would look stupid.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 18/08/2012 13:34

No it wouldn't. My lounge has French windows and a small window in the same wall. My curtains are the right length for each window.

Shelly32 · 18/08/2012 13:36

We've got it that way in our home and it looks good! It might be hard to 'see it' until you've got them up.

anditwasallyellow · 18/08/2012 13:39

I'm useless at this sort of thing!

I had a house like this once and the curtains were like that. It looked fine.

anditwasallyellow · 18/08/2012 13:46

Yes the more I look at it the more I think the way I've got it now looks more silly. Plus shorter curtains will save me some £'s.

I would have to have symmetry and I woudl either move the radiator or have a blind at the window and keep the curtains tied back in the winter to let the heat through.

Littlemissimpatient · 18/08/2012 13:51

Could you have full length curtains that you don't close and blinds that you can close? Our window has radiator below but I wanted full length curtains so we also have blind. Sorry but I don't like them looking different.

EngTech · 18/08/2012 14:30

No such thing as a daft question Smile

Short curtains as the heat not absorbed by the long curtains goes ino the room, not behind the curtains.

Save you a bit of money in heating bills as well

anditwasallyellow · 18/08/2012 14:42

That's what I have atm, a closed blind but I want to be able to draw my curtains it's driving me potty. I need pictures would anyone kindly share one if they have short and long curtains think I need to see it in action.

My friend has the same problem and yes, I think it does look silly and that it would be better to have blinds and nong curtains that you only occasionally pull across when you really want to.
