To be freaking out a teeny bit (bit long, sorry)

this isn't the right place but I need fast advice here! My DS is 6 and has had a High temp/sicky/headache bug today. His temp was really high earlier but he seemed to pick up a bit and played with his brother. He then started sticking his fingers down his throat and gagging and did make himself a bit sick. I told him to stop and he started freaking out saying he couldn't help it, it was his brain making him do it and he wanted me to help him!! He calmed down and is now asleep. I'm a born worrier so I'm a bit spooked by this. Could it just be that he's felt so awful all day he didn't realise what he was doing? Or is he now suddenly mentally ill?? It was just horrible to see.

Any advice very, very welcome. Incidentally, we're off to docs next week for a different reason so will mention it.

Calm down. He felt that he needed to be sick so instinctively did something to make himself throw up. He hasn't suddenly become mentally ill.

But if you're worried about temp phone NHS24 for an out of hours appointment.

We wonder if he has a throat infection or something. Hate, hate, hate him being ill especially when he says he has a headache. I occassionally suffer from migraines and cannot bear the thought of him suffering that degree of pain.

He's snoring on the sofa now, bless him. Temp is lower.

I think it was just his body telling him he needed to be sick rather than anything else.

I'm crap when my kids are ill as we'll try to calm down a bit

I've just done the same. Felt really really sick so made myself sick feel loads better now but could be quite scary for a little one!
