To expect a bit of discretion on FB?

I am relatively private in RL. A couple came round recently for a party and that very night, they posted that they'd been to a soiree chez nous and posted a pin on a map, showing where our house is with our names tagged. Did not like that! Am IBU?

Nobody can tag me. Sort your privacy settings out.

EclecticShock · 15/08/2012 19:58

Change your privacy settings.

TidyDancer · 15/08/2012 19:59

They shouldn't really have done it, but you have to accept a certain amount of privacy flies out the window when you're on Facebook anyway.

And I'm not one of the snooty Facebook deniers btw, just realistic.

Yes, go into your account and disable people tagging you or accessing your location.

FB is the antithesis of discretion though, there is no such thing as privacy any more. My sister isn't on FB but her friend has put school photos of her on there. She's livid, but apart from asking her friend to take them down there's nothing she can do.

I'd be more upset that people were led to believe that I called an evening with friends a soirée chez nous TBH!! :o

Vagabond · 15/08/2012 20:04

Thanks Kitty - am impressed that you managed to put an accent on you soiree though! Am not pretentious though, not moi!

They came to your house for a party and then went home and posted about it on FB. Who are these weirdos?

KittyFane1 · 15/08/2012 20:07

iPhone did it pas moi!! Wink

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 15/08/2012 20:08

I can't be tagged in locations, if your setting say you can that is probably why they assumed it was okay to do so

KittyFane1 · 15/08/2012 20:09

Also, I've got DH here translating, I haven't a clue what I'm saying!

Vagabond · 15/08/2012 20:09

I know....sad. I actually know somebody who took their Christmas dinner to another room to photograph it and post in on FB to say "having Christmas dinner in Singapore". It wasn't til everyone noticed that he wasn't there for the toast that he was doing it. Saddo.

Silently praises 'Kitty's clever iphone!'
