Update on my chickenpox thread...

This is for anyone who commented on my thread about whether I ought to go on holiday with my baby who had chickenpox. At the time he was still getting new spots and they were not all crusted over, however, several gps told me the new guidelines state that they are not infectious after 6 days from 1st spot appearing (as opposed to the traditional advice of waiting until they were all crusted over). In the end we drove there a couple of days later (so as not to come into contact with anyone) and had a lovely week with friends and their unvaccinated 18 month old who had not had it. 3 weeks on, I thought some of you might be interested to know that she hasn't caught it, despite bathing , swimming and playing together. I know it's only 1 person, so hardly a rigorous scientific test of the new guidelines, but does suggest that in this case at least they were right.

Mine never crusted over, they just sort of faded away.
As long as parents of other child were happy about the risk of being exposed, I can't see a problem anyway (dare not look at your original thread :) ).
